It's my understanding that a visit to the Caldari Titan in Gallente space will result in an aggression from the NPCs however why are people with good standing towards Caldari being shot at?

Kinda weird mechanic don't you think?

The Titan in question is no longer in Luminare, it was destroyed in a live event. The NPCs that used to spawn there would leave you alone until you aggressed them.

Edit: i had quoted OP for no reason, so i fixed it.

I remember that. CCP got such a huge response that they RIGGED IT to go the way they wanted it to go.

It was rigged from the beginning to tie in with events in Dust. If the titan didn't fall, it would be pretty anticlimactic and would have wasted months of dev time.

They should've just done a video of it. It was clear what the players would have done. I was there, too. TIDI like crazy.

You know we could have had him going for a while there and you had to ruin it.

Morons.

It wasn't rigged, the Gallente had the advantage but ultimately there wasn't enough players fighting for the Caldari to make a difference. Just because you lost doesn't mean it was rigged.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

Do you also complain that movies in the cinema are "rigged" because one guy always wins? That computer games are rigged because the player usually wins? Unless you're talking coin ops, which are rigged so the player ultimatively loses all his money?

The titan makes for a much better story if crashed into the planet providing background for DUST missions than being a dumb LCO that no one gives a frak about. That's what it ultimately was: storytelling (*). They let some players come in as extras, but an extra in a movie doesn't get the chance to solve the crime or kill the supervillain either.

So, well, what the heck did you expect? That CCP change all their plans for the future EVE background story because a bunch of players are able to mount shield reps?

The only thing that I would have changed is that I would have criminalized the Gallente a bit more, like:
Fed Navy: "Leave or die!"
Cal Navy: "Ok, we leave, but it takes an hour."
Fed Navy: "Not good enough. DIE!" *start firing*

(*) and an advert for EVE and DUST during that convention or whatever it was where they streamed the feeds to. Actually, I suspect the whole thing was only done as a massive commercial.

CONCORD was never turned off. Everyone was given suspect status at the beginning of the event and on entering the system after the beginning of the event. The timer simply ran out.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I think your analogies are wrong. Movies aren't advertised as viewers being able to determine the outcome. This event was heavily publicized as players determining the outcome. However, when the event came, players were largely spectators while ccp decided the outcome.

The titan event was a great day for us forum trolls. So many tears were had that day.

I logged in so many alts into Luminaire that day, just so that I could take up a portion of the system cap, and ensure that I had plenty of whine threads to troll.

That was a good day.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

The event was rigged the Dust514 maps were available for testing months before the event.

The story-line required a titan crash.

Thank You Obama!

Rigged would mean that there was a chance it could end either way, but CCP did something to turn the event around to the outcome they wanted. The word i think everyone is searching for is "scripted" ... It was a scripted event that could have only one outcome, regardless of what anyone else did.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.
