i pay monthly using plastic, just got a new card through, do i really need to cancel my current subscription in order to update my credit card details?

Is there a problem doing this? You have to enter the new card details obviously. The only additional step is clicking cancel first. You won't lose any time and won't be disconnected from EVE as long as you have paid time remaining.

Indeed you do. From my conversations with them, it seems like they don't save your billing information in any kind of user-editable way to minimise what can be exposed should someone get their hands on your account.

But they do store the card details, I had to petition them to remove my card details after they got their database hacked.

I now pay by PLEX so somebody else can take the risk paying CCP by card.

Was this before or after they change the account management so you couldn't update your card details?

i really don't see why my question is causing such a big deal, lets say i did petition ccp would they of replied by now? probably not. so i posted the question in the hope that just one person out of the 44 thousand subscribers to eve could confirm if i could update my card details or i had to cancel my subscription and then re subscribe using new card.

Well no, they probably wouldn't, but their site works no different from many others. You just click cancel, then tap it your new details. The time taken to come on the forum, open the thread, then watch and respond to it far exceeds the amount of time it takes you to just enter your new details. I really don't understand why you care so much about the process... I mean you can just leave your old details, then when your bank declines the payment, you account will lock until you come back in and put new details in. That's an option and doesn't involve you clicking cancel if it helps.

Cancling your subscription won't immediately disable your account, you'll still be active until up to the point you've already paid for. By adding a new subscription immediately it just renews it so when that date arrives, the cash will be taken from your new card details.

Still dont understand people that take the time to read someones thread for help, and then even more time to write a useless non-reply.

Especially if you use the local neighborhood isk doubler. Half as many L4 missions for twice as much play time is one hell of a deal.
