What?

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Chribba is the Chuck Norris of EVE.

What are you talking about?

People writing "Risk = Isk", stating that in order to make Isk you have to take risks? Or am I missing something?

surely you're all well aware of these people who have alts claiming that if you send them a certain amount of isk they will send you an even larger amount,.. in which they never send you.

Wat™

edit - you mean the "isk doubling scam"?, why should they disallow it?, scamming is implicitly allowed in Eve as long as it's done within the rules. The normal MMO rules don't apply here, if you can't accept that, you're playing the wrong game.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

"Risk = Isk: Finding EVE Online’s most sophisticated scam" is the name of the article, not the scam. You're thinking of an Isk Doubler. It's clearly a scam. If you fell for it, blame your greed for being stronger than your common sense.

that is a great article. isk doubling is the most sophisticated scam. seems legit.

nevermind spending years to invade a corp or setting up a bank or some of the other ponzi schemes. saying "i giv you double iskies!" is certainly the best!

Why would CCP regulate any strategies players use to deceive each other in game?

This whole game is premised around the idea of "Welcome to a dystopia where the most extreme libertarians are in control."

It would be a horrible place to live, but it makes for great stories.

CCP's rules on this are simple. If you use a macro to spam, regardless of whether you are spamming a 'scam' or a contract that most players would consider fair, you will be banhammered. If you don't use a macro, and don't abuse other chat rules (no RL threats, no serious RL insults like racial slurs, etc) anything is fair game.

Why are people stupid enough to fall for risk=isk?

Like the OP I'm guessing.

Why does CCP allow stupid people to enter trade hubs?

This PvP is fueled by Kraken Rum.

This is what sets this game apart from all the others. Frankly, if there was no scam in this game.....lots of stupid/ignorant/pre-10 year olds would play the game.

I was scammed couple of times during my early days...It was a wake up call for me. And I thank those two who scammed me for this learning experience.

Scam is a learning experience. So accept it and view it as such.

Are you kidding? New Eden would be a fantastic place to live, as long as you're a capsuleer and not a ship's crew.

You can't win a horse race without first saddling up and mounting the beast.

The concept of having to take risk in pursuit of rewards is a simple one.

The person making the generous offering also has the liberty of dictating terms since it's their game.

I can assure you that giving back to the community is far more rewarding than taking from it.

That said, a fat pot would soon empty if isk was simply given away to the peasantry not willing to take a gamble.

Don't listen to the also rans either.

The real interstellar kredit benefactors quintuple (x5) isk just like I am willing to do for any amount between 50m-1b that hits my wallet today.

First customer gets a 500m bonus on top of whats quintupled.

Don't delay, saddle up and send your isk to Auntie Boom today Big smile
