New Scanning System: How Is This Now Done?

I know the new scanning system has been out a while but I just now need to scan again.

I use to be able to put out one probe at a time and position it where I wanted and put out another to position it. Now it shoot out all 8 of them at once and in a pattern that to me makes no sense in order to find wh openings. Is there a new guide on how this is done? I tried searching but didn't see any.

Thanks for any info you might have.

maybe you're only using 1 pattern. theres two of them. the first is for a general scan, the second is to pinpoint the signature. if you still need to move probes individually, i think holding the shift key will move one. i've never seen the need to move them individually though, they new patterns work great.

It's rather simple, you now have the choice between two predefined patterns : pinpointing & spreaded out. The rest is just about adjusting sensor range, which automatically adjusts probe distance. All in all, it's just less of a clickfest now.

You can still move the probes manually if you really insist.

If you hold down alt, you can shrink the spread out formation. Basically you move all probes at once towards the center of the formation.

Well I have tried both configurations but I'm not really sure now how to use them.
I appreciate your answers... but so far the old way was easier to use for me. :o)

any instructions out there on how to use them?

Use the spread out formation to discover the general location of a signature.

Use the pinpoint formation to localise it. Just expand it till the overlapping region in the middle of it covers the majority of the surface of any red sphere, or circle.

If you have a point source, just center the pinpoint formation on that and progressively reduce the size. If it's not one you want, ignore it, and go back to the spread out formation to locate the next signature (or remember approximately where they were.)
