Assuming that their enemies give up this downtime.

Yeah uh us taking an additional region does not a monopoly make, sorry. And if you think we can do what would be necessary to monopolize R64s - conquer the whole game, basically - then you seem to think we can do the impossible.

Isn't that the whole nature of your intention?
According to your own wiki, Goonswarm was founded on 06/07/06 with the intention of causing the game to fail.
Latest tactic, one R64 moon at a time.

Websters Definition of MONOPOLY
1: exclusive ownership through legal privilege, command of supply, or concerted action
2: exclusive possession or control
3: a commodity controlled by one party
4: one that has a monopoly

I want you to think long and hard and answer me one question.

Why would we want a game we play and enjoy to fail?

Goonswarm doesn't want to ruin /the/ game. They want to ruin /your/ game. Blink

Rareness = conflict driver.

What you need to make sure of is that you don't end up with groups who it's nigh impossible to compete with, because of their control of that rare thing.

That is actually what you have.... Null sec Alliances formed alliances of alliances... how are you meant to beat that? You can't from the outside, you'd have to infiltrate them and try and do it from the inside. The recent changes to Ice and mineral mining are bad... hard limit is not good, if they wanted to make things more engaging for industrialists they should have made the ice belts into hidden belts that you had to scan down with probes (more interesting than the current thing because you're lucky if you can find a belt that isn't mined out within minutes) and make them spawn a fixed number of belts that can move around within a constellation of systems so that you have to scan a group of systems to find them.

The current method is:-

  1. Undock and wait a few seconds for the auto scanner to find the ice field,
  2. Warp to the field and hope you get there first, assuming it's not already mined,
  3. Grab as much as you can before the others get there,
  4. Refine and sell it, or use it to make fuel blocks for you own POS,
  5. realise you don't have enough and go out and buy what you can to keep the POS up (not always affordable).

They want to ruin everyone's EVE.

Now that Goonswarm has taken Fountain ( of course not for the moons according to Mynnna, oh the smell of male cow waste), Moon PI should be looked into.
It should be designed so that beginners can have simple access to R64 materials within 14 days.
Simple just like exploration and the way of gravimetric sites.

Another option would be to begin removing moon mining from POS's.
Soundwave likes to remove passive income and he has indicated that Moon Mining has become such that to the "rich" pilots.
Introduce a Moon Mining ship that requires a active pilot.
How many tears will there be from this idea?

Mynnna didn't say it wasn't for the moons. He just said that taking Fountain isn't going to give the CFC any kind of monopoly, in which statement he is demonstrably correct.

It's worth noting that at current prices, the CFC's investment into the Fountain R64s will take at least 2 years to pay off.

Not if they harvest the moons AND rent out the space... recoup maybe in 6 months.
Depends on the price of renting.

Will Moon materials be available via a non passive method?
Make it an activity based operation by ship either by orbiting a moon or ring mining.

Here's a suggestion from a blogger.
