Freeze on loading new grid?

Twice in 24 hours this has cost me a ~1 billion loss. Both times I've been playing without any issues previously (including multiple trips into Jita, so handling lots of people in system isn't a problem), and then when I make that last warp/jump in everything freezes up and I can't do anything while my ship is destroyed. The first time was in a pve complex, the second was jumping into a system with an unexpected fleet battle. I can maybe understand high load from the fleet battle, but why would it happen with a simple pve site?

Also:

1) I never had this problem at all pre-Odyssey, and I haven't made any hardware or graphics settings changes since then.

2) Performance is flawless even in similar situations. 50-man fleet roaming around killing stuff? No problem at all. PvE for hours at a time? Fine. Jita undock point? Framerate doesn't even drop. As far as I can see the two times this has happened have both been completely at random. I was even able to go back to the site of the first loss and grab my surviving modules without even the slightest hint of trouble.

3) This is completely all or nothing. There's no sign of choppy framerate, no significant hesitation on jumping/undocking/etc. Either I'm running the game perfectly with no problems at all or I'm completely locked up and unable to do anything.

So, any help here is greatly appreciated. I've already canceled my subscription, and as much as I'm going to miss the promising fun I was getting into I can't justify paying $15/month for a game that doesn't work.

I had the exact same problem--the game locked up as I was jumping through a gate resulting in a 2 billion isk loss. The most frustrating part is that the GMs refused to reimburse me despite my giving conclusive evidence of a client crash (I'm a software engineer and general computer nerd so I knew exactly where to look). It became clear that the first couple never even read what I had written.

What kind of hardware were you on? I was using a Retina MacBook Pro.
