Hi

I was griefed in help channel with bounties for asking a questionw I started EVE in a few years ago but due to having to go to university I had to drop out and have just resubbedw

I think the bounty system is messed up, I have had 14 million isk put on me I have perfect security status in 8 different locations in the space of about an hour for asking how to make iskw

It is a pretty reasonable questionw Why is it even possible to put a bounty on a person who has done nothing?w I can't go and put a bountry on my next door neighbor or the guy in the service station so why are people able to ruin the experience of new players in this way?w

Doesnt really make much sense does it?w especially when it happens in a help channel designed to help people in game who are neww.

Thanksw

Not really griefing. It is more likely the ones that put the bounty's on you were helping you to understand that a lot of people in eve online are asshats toward others.

Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows.

Nope, doesn't make sense at all. How is one "griefed" by a bounty? Is the bounty hurting you at all? Does it stop you from logging in? Does it decrease your sec status and standings so you can't run missions? Does it prevent you from joining corporations or alliances? Does it stop you from defending yourself or attacking other players?

Grow up. Deal with it. Or go play WoW.

Finally had an issue with a dweeb of a miner bumper bothering folks in an system with Ice. I put a nice little 9-digit bounty on him, and we never saw him again.

Works for me.

Bounties.

Killrights.

Two seperate things. Google them both.

Just don't freak out so much man, it's not like people can kill you legally in hisec or anything. They just get paid whenever they do happen to kill you, wherever that may be. Since the payout is only 20% of what you are currently flying it's almost never profitable to gank someone for their bounty in hisec. The person that bountied you basicly subscribed himself to a mailing list of your lossmails and nothing more. He just pays the next dude that does happens to kill you.

That's probably the best description of bounties I've heard yet, now considering subscribing to the OPs mailing list.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

If you'd be willing to meet me in lowsec in a suitably expensive hull, I'd be more than happy to help you get rid of that awful bounty.

Griefing is the act of intentionally causing distress to other players in an online game and the tactics used to cause grief vary depending on which game is being played.

Asshat puts bounties on noobs in help channels and noob corp channels to intentionally cause them distress and watch teh forumz for resulting floods of tears.

Bounties are the new greifing in EvE since the revamp, try and keep up.

Hi OP. You can transfer any/all bounties to me. I will get killed a few times in the coming week, due to a small border skirmish in the region called Fountain, and will get rid of the bounties for you.
However, you might have to get killed and make a profit from the bounties first, then send the ISK.

You can't transfer bounties directly, but I will guarantee to die in blazing glorious fire and remove those evil bounties.

Unless the bounty is in the billions, it will not affect you at all. In nullsec/lowsec it will not affect the decision to kill you, since that is the default decision anyway. In high sec, since bounty is tied to ship value, there's not much point in popping someone for the bounty alone. Usually the player's ship isn't valuable enough to make it worth the Concord loss involved to gain 20% of the bounty.

Therefore bounties of even tens of millions are not really griefing. The problem lies in the misunderstanding of bounty mechanics by new players. So actually putting bounties on new players is helping them to understand the game better.

Hi OP, make your way down to the region called Curse. The locals here will graciously assist in bounty removal. Repeatedly. See especially the citizens of K-QWHE system, who are renowned experts at this particular enterprise.

I still have ships in that system....should stop by and grab them! P

Hey OP, 14 million...is not even enough to fit a talwar with. Your bounty is literally the last reason why anyone would want to kill you.

Reading this thread just gave me a strong impulse to quit Eve once again. This usually means I am reading the forums too much. I wish there was an option to unsubscribe to the forums permanently. I'm sure I would like Eve better if I never came here at all. Maybe this time I will learn my lesson.

If you have an empty clone or can easily get one, the best way to deal with bounties is to self-destruct. Then all the money spent on your bounty was totally wasted.

I want to know why his finger has a form of turrets syndrome on the 'w' key.

Also, congrats OP your bounty now up from 14 to 78 mill so far thanks to your crying.
