Petition for name purging

A LOT of the really good names in the game, are taken by characters who don't even play.

Just a few examples are:
Han Solo
Carl Sagan,
Neill Degrass Tyson
Luke Skywalker
etc etc.......


I know CCP is hopeful of them ever coming back, but this is not a reason for them to be able to clog up the good names.

So i suggest CCP would allow for a taken name to be changed into *faction name here* Citizen *number here*
Caldari Citizen 12345678 for example.
That way, the ACTIVE players can at least enjoy the cool names.

No this topic does not belong in F&I it belongs here, so as many people can +1 it as possible and it is not an idea, but rather a petition.


Now the idea follows.
If you want to have a name cleared and you have figured out that this character just doesn't play anymore ( for at least 3 years ), petition CCP to change that characters name and then you can make a new char with that name.

Do you have any examples of good names being taken? Just come up with something new and original instead. It shouldn't be that hard…

That is a mere matter of opinion, it doesn't matter if my examples are ok with you, it matters if there's a name out there that you REALLY REALLY want, but is taken by someone who doesn't even play.

I want to say that those names are on inactive accounts created by CCP for copyright reasons but I could very well be wrong Either way, come up with something original like everyone else has.

OP - look deep inside and find some originality, those names are only good in their own context, they don't belong to, or in, EVE.

I don't want to sound harsh or anything, but most of the responses in here are pretty ******** and fairly typical for the average reader, reading is something most people have trouble with these days.

Yes i know he's my corp mate, but this is not why i am responding to this, i just want to give my honest input.


The point he made, was that a lot of the names people would want to have, are already taken by people who don't even play.
Yet most of the responses i see, are to do with his examples, THEY ARE JUST EXAMPLES PEOPLE!!!

This being said, i don't think you're the first one to come up with this actually.


Also, how are The GREAT Carl Sagan and Neill Degrass Tyson in any way shape or form related to Reddit?
They are Astrophysicists and very well known ones at that ( With Carl being the best of the 2 when it comes to poetic speech ).


Also, Milla, He didn't say CCP should biomass the characters at all, at least that's not what i read.
