Here's a pro tip:

Playing footsie in lowsec and preying upon hapless noobs and miners is not real piracy.

The "penalty" for piracy as we now know it to be in Eve is not some arbitrary punishment against a playstyle because CCP likes carebears or something.

It's punishment for lame game play. You want to play cat and mouse on stations and gates and noob harvest, it's your fault.

Did you know that disrupting operations on NULLsec, where you will find even worse carebears, will cause more ISK loss than stealing loot from some level 4 grinder in highsec or killing some miners one in 100 hulks?

That's right, nullsec is so populated because they sold the same carebearing as highsec has to offer.

Even worse, if you have to be hunted down, the people doing the hunting will be losing way more ISK than you will if they get your ship. Not running anoms costs big time.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg for the butthurt potential.

Of course, the targets there will shoot back, and there's bubbles too. Perhaps a lowseccer is to nullsec what a highsec carebear is to lowsec?

The cost of sec status hit for not wanting to admit they want targets that can't shoot back is actually pretty fair.

So you mean we should give CONCORD just a few hundreds ships to patrol all of High Sec meaning most often most systems will be completely open to risk-free piracy?

Actually sounds like a really good idea.

Thanks for that.

The bounty system isn't entirely functional for a number of reasons, and sec standings are not one of them. Try again.

Why are lowsec kiddies so defensive of ineffectual faction NPCs and non-existent suicide alt penalties that they'll rant for pages in response to obvious trolls?

It's kinda sad to watch really.

In other words, there are real consequences. People just choose not to enforce them. This makes it a people problem, not a game problem, and as such is not something the game should (or can) compensate for.

A new player or player in a PVE fit does NOT have a choice to engage only to die... also, since the pirates are generally well established players, the new/pve players cannot afford to lose as much... the SYSTEM creates the problem, not the players

The minute you target you made that choice the very microsecond you push F1 you confirmed that choice.

Take your medicne and I know its bitter but get better and learn from it.

I'm so confused.

Was OP ganked by a -10 pirate, or did OP fire on someone suspect baiting him in a mission? Because -10 pirates don't ninja loot.

If you fired on a suspect while in your PvE boat, don't do that. Happily complete the mission while waiting for your corpmates in their tackler and dps boats to arrive and shoot him.

OP - you should try to pirate before you make suggestions. Being a pirate definitely has drawbacks already. If you are just a PvPer that's one thing... but piracy is a hard damn life. You loose a LOT of ships. If I see a pirate in a T2 ship I think to myself "damn... how much did this guy make off of his last few kills..." because the truth is I don't see how piracy can be sustainable if you are flying anything over a way asymmetric (a fit with huge defense holes) fit T1 BC. Piracy is it's own consequence. It's not lucrative over time... you have to really want to do it. Pirate

The fix to any high sec piracy problem is to fix risk vs reward. If the only risk to your ship is belt rats that two T1 drones can kill from your second day in Eve- then the rewards should be so low that no one flies ships of any value in high sec. Then the economics of ganking is such that it's simply not worth it. Problem solved.

Piracy in high sec stems from the broken mechanic of high sec's rewards being worth shiny ships and fat cargo worth the occasional gank. It's a more target-rich environment than null sec- the individual rewards of null don't come close to comparing to high sec, with all the increased risk involved.

Lost a single ship and the game is a broken mess, eh? Go back to WoW

Got ganked by a -10 today, eh?

I chose to engage the -10 ninja salvager, in a situation I knew I would probably lose. But it doesn't make sense to me all these scumbags running around ganking people without consequences, and when you have to fit your ship or fly entirely DIFFERENT ships for PVE/PVP... a player shooting at you without getting concorded is NOT a meaningful consequence.... if the PVP crowd wants to engage PVE even if they don't want it, CCP should either make the NPCs maniacally hunt the pirates, or make PVP/PVE fitting and ships the same ergo, I could easily PVE AND PVP in the same ship with the same fitting.

See, you are just bad at the game. They aren't cheating the system at all. You activated the kill flag on the ninja salvager, which in turn puts you in a limited engagement. He is now able to shoot you without concord retaliation, and what's more, his friends can help him. You can also try shooting his friends, but I doubt that would get you anywhere.

Also, this "no consequence" bullshit, is well, bullshit. Once, my corp got wardec'd by a hisec griefing corp, and when we decided that enough was enough, we fought, and won.

Maybe you just need to stop being bad at the game.

This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165

Hi,

Please note that trolling is against the rules.

If you want to suggest a change to the game's piracy mechanics, first you need to learn something more about them, and then make a balanced post discussing the merits of your idea, in the Features and Ideas section of the forums.

Thanks.
