I don't experience lag with the new jumping animation but I just find it pointless to have and rather silly. I'm not much of a fan of fancy flashy stuff, really.

This thread normally lives on page 1 of the forums so I am gonna necro it .
I have, post odessy been avoiding watching the jump animation as it does make me feel quite poorly, however today I am quite pissed off with it and feel the need to post.
I left some items at jita and the thought of going back to get them makes me feel worse, so I am going to log off.
This not wanting to play is happening more and more because the jumps just wear me out
I have realised that I don`t really travel much in eve anymore, less pvp etc on my main.
Eve is the only current game that makes me feel poorly in this way.
The whole animation really does suck balls in particular the camera swing at the start ....
Then the tunnel effect too is quite bad (sometimes it breaks up and thats not too good )
and the little refocus as you get dragged out is bad too.
The whole animation...
I unfortunately wear glasses as i have myopia and astigmatism in both eyes and this probably doesn`t help.
Also not giving people the option to turn it off out of choice on CCPs part is rather sadistic.

Hey CCP, fix these problems that you just created already.X

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

Let's be optimistic. We can expect an update for... a winter expansion =)

Yes, an update that something else that was working perfectly will be broken and then forgotten about even after there were numerous complaints during the testing phase and subsequent forum posts afterwards...

It would be interesting to see the statistics of what percentage of clients are not in the foreground when running the warp gate animation (meaning they are either minimized or have some other window opened to hide the animation). That would be the most telling, I think.

You can't have the exact number of something so specific.

Applications (at least on Windows, assume Mac as well) know when they are in the background or the foreground. Presumably the EVE client knows when it starts the warp gate animation. Not hard to come up with the stats.

Worst thing is that we are at summer, most players can invest more hours on EVE... and some can't because of this animation.

I do log more in EVE since one week because I got more free time, but still I can do only trading/afk-hauling, so most of this time isn't used for interesting activities... And now it happens frequently that I launch an another game while EVE is still working just because I forgot that I launched it.

When Odyssey was about to be released, I thought that I would use my free time in a better way, so naturally my frustation level is going up.

God bless Valve, there is the summer sales on Steam.

For the love of god can we please just have the option to turn off the auto scan of every system we jump into? I like the animation, but please just wait for me to ask for the scan. Unless we are going to start making all of our ship functions automatic now?

I'm already alt-tabbing out every time I jump or hitting f10 because I've given up on ever getting the option to make the puke tunnel go away.

All we want are options. Please?

Giving us options is not a cop-out. Your jump animation makes me sick, so I LEAVE THE GAME instead of watching your animation. Is that your goal?

Literally makes you sick, like, gonna vomit? Or are you just another stupid troll?

Personally, it makes me physically nauseous and gives me migraine headaches, so yes, it is making people literally sick.

Which you would have known if you had even bothered to read a single page of this thread. Next time, please do a little reading before you start calling others "stupid," unless of course you have no qualms about appearing to be so yourself.

same here, up to 5 jumps, i can handle it, it is just an annoyance, but if i need to do more jumps, i start being nauseus.

no headache so far for me tho.

this was clearly stated doing the beta on sisi, i can't understand why they released it like this, or at least they didn't set a checkbox to not use the animation....

and even after that, i can't understand why this was not made in the week following the release (same goes for the sensor overlay).

it's being 2 month since the update, and way more since the first beta, and we are still let here without dev even listening...seriously, i fired devs for less than this!

Heh I remember that.
But I'm sorry to say, this is now worse.
I'd honestly rather have a picture of a door while jumping gates! With the loading bar, than this crazy headache atm.

Going to say i really enjoy the new flow of play now.

Feels less like an 80s adventure game (walk to the side of the screen and a new one gets loaded up) and more of a sprawling space traveling type game.

I'm really not very sorry for the loss of your 80s era loading bars.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I know how to turn off the jump animation. It was there all along.

Load star map before jumping. Problem solved.

Thats what I do. In fact: I do map-flying all the time now as it is easier than turning it on and off for every jump. As a bonus I also get rid of the scan animation that way.

Considering that CCPs stated goal with the jump animation was to increase immersion in the game, they kinda missed the target.

No one is asking for the complete removal of the transition, we just want the OPTION to disable it if we find it affects us adversely (or for those who just plain don't like it). If you like it, great, no one is taking that away from you.

Not exactly "solved;" it is a workaround, I'll grant you that, but one which does present certain hazards while travelling through hostile territory, where even a momentary lapse in situational awareness can cost you a ship or pod.

I am sure that they have a patent about this way of maintaining a game Twisted

[psychomoron-like mode on]

I know how to reduce the risks of getting hazards while travelling throught hostile territory. It was there all along.

Don't go into hostile territories, don't do PVP again anymore. Problem solved.

[psychomoron-like mode off]

It took years for CCP to correct simple things like rockets or blasters. So I don't expect something like this animation to be corrected before a decade, and the worst thing is that I really begin to think this way as it wouldn't surprise me...
