Eve Gameplay Issues

Hey all,

Not quite sure if this should go somewhere else, but I'm having some weird issues. Examples are listed below.

1. Chat window - I'm only able to write one line, hit enter, and then I'm unable to send further messages until later. I hear some horn when I try to hit enter immediately after writing something. It also isn't showing the local or corp tabs.
2. In-game overview doesn't populate with stations, asteroids, players...just nothing.
3. Can't open some other windows (Corp info specifically); sometimes it opens, then shows the loading symbol at top right for ever.
4. Connection gets dropped too frequently.

I hope I'm not missing something obvious, but just isn't working as before.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Wish I could help more. Please post operating system. Also think if you have software that might be conflicting in some way.

Copied from comment in your other thread.

Sounds like there is something between you (your ISP) and the TQ server in London that are causing all these disconnects.

Open up a command prompt and type in tracert 87.237.38.200

Copy and paste the results here.

-Windows 7 (64)
-I have Norton setup to allow all traffic for Eve.

What else do you need?

Got UAC running? Run a elevated command prompt and type in: tracert 87.237.38.200

You have to put the "tracert" command in front of the IP (the numbers).

Tracert will tell you what path and in what time information takes until it reaches the given IP ... which in this case is the IP to the eve server (I guess).

Should look like this :)

In case you're struggling to get the info from the command prompt to the forum, here's what I did:

Clicked the START button.
Typed "command prompt" into the search field.
Typed the "tracert 87.237.38.200" command in the command prompt window.
Right-clicked the top border of the window, then edit -> mark
Select text.
Right-clicked the top border of the window, then copy
Went back to the eve-forum and hit ctrl-v.

Mmh, tracert looks fine to me.

I'm combing this thread for possible clues if it's a known issue: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=243141&p=8.

Wish I knew more about computers to help. Maybe try this until someone with more knowledge comes along + file a support ticket to CCP.

try flushing the dns cache.
it seems the game uses server url and not directly the ip to connect, so even if u are able to reach the ip, the system might be unable to link the url to the correct IP

to do so, open the terminal ( press "win + r", the type "cmd" and press "return")
and execute this command:

arp -d *

then

ipconfig /flushdns

this should clear the dns cache from any bad entry it might contain, and force the system to request the url -> ip matching, wich could solve your issue

if this works, but soon after, an issue appears again (already witnessed that), you can create a custom shortcut on your desktop to launch eve to reach a specific IP.

go to the folder containing eve, inside /bin there is a exefile.exe, right click on it then "send to desktop (shortcut)"

a new shortcut appears on your desktop, now right click it => properties.

go in "shortcut" tab, and under "target" you should see something like this:

E:\EvE\bin\ExeFile.exe

or this (if path contain any spaces)

"E:\EvE 2\bin\ExeFile.exe"

change it so it look like this:

E:\EvE\bin\ExeFile.exe /server:87.237.38.200

or

"E:\EvE 2\bin\ExeFile.exe" /server:87.237.38.200

and try launching the game with this new shortcut, it will bypass the dns request (and the new crap launcher btw), and should solve the issue (if not, i'm out of ideas Sad )
hope this will help :)
