Tracking Disruptors DO Affect Missiles........

..................don't they?

Scenario: A is in a LM Breacher against B in a Coercer. B uses a range script to reduce the Breachers lock range thereby rendering the Breacher unable to lock unless it gets in much closer, therefore not able to fire LM's.

Is this correct?

Tracking disruptor only affects the optimal or tracking speed of the turrent. It's the sensor dampeners that affect lock range, so no TD doesn't affect missiles

TDs affect accuracy falloff of turrets too.

Hi Wander, thanks for replying.

I found this:

"The long range disruption of turrets works similar to the way the Remote Sensor Dampener can cut locking range. If an enemy's turret optimal and falloff are reduced sufficiently, it may become impossible for them to hit someone from a given range. If range can be maintained, the enemy ship may find itself unable to hit anyone."

I'm not the brightest button on the tunic, so bear with me. What I am understanding is that if the Breacher has a lock range ability of say, 45km's and is loaded with LM's and the condor uses two tracking disruptors with range scripts and maintains enough distance, the Breacher will not be able to lock the Condor, yes?

You are confusing tracking disruptors for sensor damps

TD's affect turrents only

Sensor damps reduce locking range or locking time when scripted, and both when unscripted

No, they do not.

It is (or was?) planned by CCP to have tracking disruptors affect missile launchers, too, but this has not yet been implemented or tested and so remains a rumor.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

the descriptions may be a little confusing but take it from all of us: Tracking disruption has no effect on lock range.

Emphasis mine.

The quote is accurate but has been misinterpreted.
Tracking Disruption of Turrets works in a manner similar to Remote Sensor Dampeners, but it does not effect the same attributes.
Like the sensor damp the tracking disruptor has two primary 'modes' driven by a script and an unscripted mode, however while the sensor damp's scripts affect Lock Range and lock time (sig resolution) the tracking disruptor scripts affect Turret Range (Optimal and Falloff) and Turret Tracking Speed.

As missiles have neither Optimal and Falloff ranges nor Tracking Speed attributes a Tracking Disruptor will have no effect on them.

Hopefully I haven't merely added to the confusion...
