Would be fun I guess, since that's about all they can do for "fun" anyway. Playing docking games; blobing; or killing babes in high-sec.

My alt is going to be focusing all training on one ship: the Talwar.

While there is much to be said for picking one ship, and then targeting the SP for it. It's the total opposite of futzing around on a little SP here, a little SP there, try this out, try that out. If you take an alt, pick one ship you want to hit hard with, see what the bonuses and weapons platforms are, you can become effective with it with only a couple million SP.

Destroyers, not being much in the way of "tankable", don't require a lot of skills - mainly just weapons. Of course the PVP modules take some skills. So we are dealing with a level 5 and a specialization in small turrets or bays, web and scram, and then any module related to a bonus of the chosen hull model or even a type.

With frigates, if taken to level 5, you get a new world opening up as you can go on to assault frigates, electronics attack frigates, etc. Dessies to level 5 only gets you to dictors (not such a big deal if 1v1/small gang PVP is the goal). But evidently the "crossroad" is going to be at racial Frigate 3 where you can qualify to train for dessies.

Many would admit that Frigates 5 gives more options later, but if you want to do a lot of damage cheaply and not so much emphasis on tanking skills, dessies it is. We're talking only a couple of months training at most for 5 in the hull, 5 in operation, and the specialization of the weapons type with 3-4 of the "support" skills (motion prediction, sharpshooter, etc).
