Change the activation button. Increase activation time. Use the keyboard rather than the mouse.

This, also use overview instead of brackets in space.

These are great suggestions that would make the radial menu more tolerable. It would make the radial menu more tolerable...

Do we not want to improve the radial interface at its core? Was it intended to be another buggy thing for us to tolerate?

No... I dont think we should look at it like that. I want the radial menu to actually work...

Not really... the video describes my thoughts way better than any long winded forum post could. And even then you might not understand it. Sorry you dont want to click the link dude....

It's been massively improved, and I don't really see any bugs with it.

I had a couple of irritating issues pointed out to me last night.

Personally, I use tiered right click menus the way God intended, but I understand that filthy godless heathens would like the UI for their disgusting blasphemous perversion improved a little.

Sorry, did you watch the video all the way through?

I do realize it may seem like I'm just rambling or spacing out... but thats just my way of analyzing the system, and I begin to figure the bug more clearly around the 4:00 minute mark

No, but please list and describe them. Between a point list that takes 1.7 seconds to eye through and a video that requires me to watch for 4 minutes before it becomes interesting, guess which one I'll go for… Blink

Video is good for illustration and proof, not for description. Also, edit out the music since it drowns out your description.

  • The radial menu cancels the action of selecting items when clicking on brackets in space.

I believe that's about as descriptive and exact as it can be said. But if you click on the timeline in the bottom of the video then you can skip to the 4 minute mark. It really helps to have a visual reference to what im talking about

Fair enough. I see the problem. My guess is that the radial menu covers the entire area (and more) as far as receiving clicks, whereas “hover” actions still trickle down to background items.

More like:

  • You click to select a bracket in space and then click and hold to activate the radial menu. If between the first click and opening the radial menu you moved your mouse pointer to a new bracket, the radial menu still uses your first selection instead of using the new bracket you're hovering over. Thus requiring one click more if you changed your mind after you made your first selection.

I would tend to say: working as intended.

It's like the difference between microsoft OS and other OS, where MS wants double-clicks on icons to open them and other OS often just require one click. Both systems work as intended by their creators and users adapt to them.

I still dont get what the problem here is..
Ive never personally had any issue with the radial menu myself.
If what I THINK might be the cause of your troubles, maybe dont hold down the button so the damn menu comes up? Its fairly simple. If this wasnt your problem, then Im completely lost.

in General Settings->Open Radial Menu With->select any other mouse button than the one you use for normal select (left mouse)

I chose some obscure extra mouse button that I never use, thus I will never know the pleasures of the radial menu P

Post number 13 describes what I understood from your video. Feel free to correct me on what exactly I misunderstood. (You can see it as an exercise in verbal communication. Very useful skill once you join the workforce. Your future customers or boss won't deal kindly with you if you just throw a "you don't get it" at their face.)

Also I'm a professional of sorts. See bio for all my activities in and out of game.
