0.0 bombing near NPC stations - possible?

Hi all,

Starting to play around with bombing targets in belts etc... I noticed an awful amount of cynofields with cyno frigs and carriers (and what not) placed exactly near stations in 0.0 space.

Now I am often tempted to drop a bomb on cynofield and the cynofrig though I am not sure if I will get aggression from the station's guns.

Anyone having any experience with that warfare tactic and how efficient it is?

Thanks all!

Regardless of the station, a bomb will not kill a cynofrig (bomb only kills frigates with MWD on, and a stationary frigate has no need for MWD)

"Station's guns"....We are talking about 0.0 right? The only danger are the players around that station. Really if you want to go around popping cyno frigs just get a t1 combat frig like a merlin or rifter.

Thanks for the advice all! =)
In regards to "station's guns in 0.0", that was the part where I was confused. Who would they shoot on if anything is allowed in 0.0?

Conor, reflecting on this note, that would probably be as you say easier with any T1 frig though most of the time, I see carriers sending out their fighters/drones so my attack must be a "stealth" one. I am a solo guy so this adds to the complexity. :)

Also, why are cynos being lighted next to a station in 0.0 or lowsec? My take was that the station's guns would give them some defense though it doesn't seem to be the case.

I realize that these might be fairly noobish questions but I am just coming back to the game after a year's break and need to dust the rust off my brains... ;0)

Cyno's are lit on station for the lowest risk in moving a capital ship. Anyone can warp to a cyno. If you drop it on on station the incoming capital can dock after the 30 second session change. There is really not enough time to get anything to attack capital before they can dock up. Same goes for leaving the system.

As to your question, you can bomb a ship on a station but, even 0.0 stations have guns and will attack you because you damaged the station with your bomb.

Wrong, so wrong.

If you are solo bombing someone correctly you will have launched torps right before you drop your bomb.
This WILL kill a stationary frigate, even T2. (I have killed many people on the edge of their POS shields from doing this)

To clarify, NPC 0.0 stations have guns and will shoot you if you damage the station. Outposts do not have guns.

Great tips all around. You all answered my open questions on the Stealthbomber warfare tactics which I couldn't find in any other (excellent) threads.

Cheers all! o/
