You cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Either you have started EVE as a pirate or you have not. You will not be more than a miner with guns to everyone else.

Just look at yourself now. You need to ask for pointers on how to become a pirate. What kind of a pirate does that?!

A pirate can take a hauler or even a mining barge and use it for PvP, while you need to ask what ship to use. Roll

You need a basic pointer? ... You will never become a pirate.

LOL what a douche.

OP, grab some guns and go shoot people.

There may be a chance for you to become a pirate after all, unlike them stinking fish heads.

Because Garviel Have you not realized after reading a few posts that most of the people offering advise have no clue what they are doing. Sometimes I think they are confused about which MMO's forums they are attempting to troll onShocked

Troll being the active word.

As for mains or not it is often in peoples best interest to keep the activities of their characters obfuscated. Where people will often call one and other out for posting with an alt, it is still an important tactic used both for trolls and for players both.

Debate people for their words. Show where you feel they are wrong. But don't put of a straw man argument that since the posting name doesn't have a perfect isk efficiency they can't know what they are talking about.

Hell I am terrible at applying what I know (believe I know) about frigate fights. But that doesn't mean I should be completely discounted off the bat if my parrot says the right things ;)

If you don't have enough faith in your words to back them up with with your main you can be pretty safely ignored from any arguement..

Also isk efficiency is for twats, he has 2 kills and 10 losses, i would rather take pvp advice from someone with 10 kills and 500 losses. Especially seeing how most of those losses are shitfits.

In this case yes you should be ignored, because if you havn't done pvp you shouldn't be piping into a conversation about pvp since you clearly don't know **** about it.

Piracy has nothing to do with being in low sec, -10 sec status or gate camping. I CAN be but that generally is mostly is "just" PVP, nothing wrong with it but there's only a few true pirates out there. Piracy is about having your main motivation being profit, taking isk or loot from others and preferably at gun point be it in high sec, low or even 0.0/WH.

A pirate isn't in it for the fair or fun fight, he'll run at the first hint of possible trouble and takes advantage of the weak and uninformed. Some you can trust with ransoms, others you can't.

Hound usually has better advice than I saw above.

I was once a flaming carebear without end. The PVE side of EVE is what I did until we were wardec'ed by another corp that was in its last throws of existance but was still powerful enough to cause us to lose ships. The fact that we were at war and a potential enemy behind every gate was thrilling to me even if most of my carebear buds failed to log in during that week. I even got a ship kill or two which was awesome!

I joined a small merc organization and merc'ed for a few years learning the ropes. Merc'ing is a good life and taught me alot of lessons. I didn't stick with it because with the corp I was in involved moving ships all over the place which became a pain after awhile. Now I'm full pirate. I haven't earned my eye patch because i'm not a -10 but they did give me this really neat parrot. Point is you can be a complete carebear and still choose the pirate lifestyle. I say go for it.

I am beginning to wonder if he is perhaps the best troll I have ever seen. Surely he can't be genuine...

Get a frig, go to lowsec, learn stuff that flies around and can be blown up / tries to blow up you.

Determinate your ship and tactics preferences. This is personal choice. Nobody can give you specific advice here.

Then... learn, kill, die.

Solo pilot career requires solid self-education skill. If things won't go well solo, try to join a corp/newbie pvp channel. If things won't go well even after this, go back to hisec Smile

Ignore the white dog; he's a troll, not a pirate.

The basic bottom line of Eve piracy is this, are you a griefer? Do you get off on inflicting misery on other people? Does it make you feel good to make others feel bad?

Because Eve is not like other MMO's. There's not another major MMO out there in which getting blown up means your **** is just flat gone. There's not another major MMO out there in which dying has such serious consequences. If you just like blowing stuff up, and aren't really into causing people grief, then what you want in Eve is PVP, not piracy.

If you really do get off on inflicting misery on others, then congratulations, you have found the happiest of all possible online homes in Eve, and you really are suited to be a pirate. Take the time to learn about the Crime Watch system, here's a good link-
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Criminal_Flagging_System

And remember that half of successful piracy is psychological, one quarter is character skills and fitting, and the final quarter is your ability to fight your ship. But Piracy begins in your mind. Don't just go wander around aimlessly looking for trouble. Devise a plan. Train Cloaking, if you don't have it already. Train Anchoring so you can use warp bubbles. Develop your teamwork skills.

And perhaps most of all, remember that people see what they expect to see. Show them something that appears to be what they expect, and they will take the bait, hook, line, and sinker.
