2005-2007 were the best years of EVE.

Things went downhill after The Great Nano Nerf and continued focus on caps, jump freighters, jump everything

Organizing a 30 man escort mission to move a couple Freighters thru HED was fun

Let's see what I can remember:

- Mining in an Osprey, because I didn't have the money for a battleship and mining barges didn't exist. Osprey's and scythes had 20%/lvl mining yield bonus back then.

- Ye olde graphics;

- Seeing a freighter for the first time. Probably an Obelisk because training gallente industrial V was popular back then, so you could fly an itty V.

- Cruise launcher II selling for 10mil each, 500mil Hulks, 200-250mil for Deimos

- Being in the Xetic Federation and living at a corp POS, because players couldn't build stations yet.

- much, much more

CCP employees used to drop into chat channels and just chit-chat with the player base...

...and were quite known for drinking aplenty while creating a hardcore, ~mean~ game -- not this hand holding, "need to switch the safety switch off" pampered game of today.

Collecting loot from the npc haulers that went station to station and being excited when you got a load of harvester drones to sell off.

Conquering the first station in 0.0 that was conquered in Eve, CZDJ.

Fighting on the front lines in the Great Northern War.

Killing Phonix's Apocalypse in a Torpedo Kestrel with Ripp Tyde.

Armoured Assassins constantly camping Aunenen.

When interceptors were first introduced.

I still have a thorax with 8 heavy drones in its drone bay. Can't undock in it though.

well the days before the gankageddon nerf, they had stack nerf, it's just that it wasn't that punitive.

8 HS pulsegeddon was fun tho, that thing melted everything and everyone in seconds.

When there was no tutorials, or no start corps.. and thus doom us old timers to incorrect char sheets.

When my old stomping ground in 0.3 dead end system had crokite and arkanor in it.

When the first run of Battleships were made and everyone looked at the price and thought.. No way!!! way to much!

When been busting the old type gate camps.

Remember when i had hair.. EEP!

10yrs+ and still a great Game! Thank you CCP!

There was also a time when the Phobos was the most feared hictor in the game. Not because it was much better, but because it was a flying pink space-dildo.

Signed up March of 2003. Like an idiot I quit before it got really good, and played a bunch of ridiculously cruddy games since then.

Glad to be back, though.

I remember when 0.0 wasn't a blue doughnut.

Having my first major fleet fight against BoB, back in the IRON/G days. System had 150 people in it, and it crashed hard.

Going on fleet, and FC emo rage logged, and he was only one with bookmarks so our 50 man BS gang had to slow boat to gates 30 jumps back to deklain. *cringe*

FCing my first major fleet fight against FIX, my nano phoon was awesome....

back in my days Eve had real pirates.

Remember tiller ?

Quite famous from posting on eve forum about his oversized pirate ego and the mighty octobersnow corp. His computer was sitting under the stairs and he even painted the room black to match his pirate personnality lol. Could see him posting on the forum about how everyone should get gank and how he was always the best lol. Back in the days he did try to regroup the most famous pirates of eve for one gate camp hehe.

Ginger magician ?

Both had hudge egos and werent shy to claim to be the best killer of the game ! At that time, warp to zero coudnt save your spaceship, without a bookmark, you had to fly 15 km to that gate.

I still miss Mitnal. Probably the best forum moderator eve ever had .

Ah yes. when I was in Menevolent Emo Herders I flew with former M0o pilots and never forgot it. Hate to say it but I had a fanboy crush on those dastardly devils. To think their actions still echo in the game today in things like gate guns. A different breed those guys were.

Very egotistical but had every right to flaunt it. Nowadays it's rather rare finding players of that caliber. Those of us who remember them try to hold onto the memories and what they did. Some entities such as FLASHY RED (god bless them) Tuskers, Shadow Cartel, and a few others still love the game how it was played back in those days.

Sure everyones been forced to adapt to bridges and such but the spirit remains the same.

Being able to deploy mines all around gates...Lol

Flying my Domi of Death that could field 25 drones at one time...sweet

Remember when everyone had (or created) thousands of bookmarks to land at zero on gates and stations in in almost every region.

or maxing out my learning skills just so I could "learn" other skills faster. Roll
