Rookies in EVE Guide 20 don't make this mistake with rigs

This is a short video.
http://youtu.be/weoLyqXTnZg

I made this video so you don't make the same mistake I did. At this time, there is no skills to change a ship/mod calibration. This means, you may not be able to fit a rig even if you have this skills.

BTW I was mad when I made this. But I meant it when I said people will leave this game if CCP doesn't listen to their players. I've seen it with many companies (like Apple). (Keep in mind. I never said the company will go away. Apple and the many other companies that didn't/don't listen won't completely go away)

EDIT: Rookies in EVE Guide 20.5
I feel like I acted to fast on this because I was mad. Because of this, I made a 20.5 guide video.

That's why you fit the ship up in EFT first (you do explain that in your video, don't you?), make sure everything fits, then go in-game and start buying stuff.

"there is no indication AT ALL, unless you do research and there's no reason to do research"

Even *I* knew almost from the start to rightclick>info everything, and has NOTHING to do with CCP not listening to their player base.

the ETF is a 3rd party tool.

The show info. Why would someone care/know what calibration means? I don't really deal with rigs. So, how would a noob (or a noob dealing with rigs) know what to look out for?

Anyways, if you search this problem you can find people asking to fix it every so often.

To top it off. There is nothing telling you there is no skills to help you out there.

You rightclick > info on that rig, you check the stats and one of them is called calibration. So if you don't know what that means, I didn't, you either look it up on the wiki or you ask in help channel "Can someone please tell me what calibration is?", and then you know.

Just because I'm new doesn't mean I'm stupid or incapable of asking for help.

Why would you know if it's worth while to ask. Also I am PO because there is nothing in game telling anyone who just starts to pay attention to that.

And?
It's one of the two tools I used to see recommended the most on rookie help (EveMon being the other)

That could be argued for CPU, power grid, turret hardpoints or just about anything. You learn rigs the same way everyone else learnt rigs (and CPU, and PG), you read and ask if necessary.

A ship has 3 bars on it's fitting tab (show info -> fitting). CPU, Powergrid, Calibration. Hence one could conclude with the minimum of logic and reading that something called calibration has to with fitting.
A rig has, on its attribute tab (show info->attributes) a number called calibration cost. Hence one could conclude with a minimum of logic and reading that rigs cost some calibration to fit.

It's really not a stretch to then conclude that the sum of the calibration costs of rigs can't exceed the calibration of the ship, much like the sum of powergrid usage from modules cannot exceed the powergrid of the ship.

That's all in-game, right in front of anyone that bothers to do a smidgen of reading.

What I am PO about is there is nothing in game showing anyone this. More so. There is nothing in game saying there is no skills to fix this problem.

BTW I am still PO about it because it just happen. So I might have posted this to fast.

Nothing other than the calibration on the fitting property of every ship and the calibration cost of every single rig (and there's an in-game calculator too).

Nothing other than the descriptions of the skills available to be read through? (you can see all skills in the market and get their info up even if the skills books aren't for sale) Or older players to ask?

TL:DR
"I didnt bother to look at what I was buying, made a mistake and rather than accepting that the mistake was mine, I started looking for a way to blame someone else"

I think that about covers most of it.

This is typical Litigation Culture. Suffered an injury ? Want to try to blame someone else ? Call now !

I can tell you, if you rage about this stuff there is a lot to come... Imagine how your jump freighter will die because you had no idea to plan jump routes with an out of game tool and you land in hostile space. Imagine how furious you get when you buy that module to increase the amount of drones you can field, only to find out it only works on carriers. Imagine you make a nice PI network only to find out some corporation is charging extremely high taxes for exporting the stuff.

EVE does not hold your hand. This mistake is all on you. Understand that a lot of eve players LIKE the way it is. There is no message when buying t2 rigs **please notice these need more calibration** and if you ask me there shouldn't be any. You are supposed to know, supposed to research, supposed to find out. Eve is cold, harsh and difficult. And as your own saying goes: hell is around every corner. Better get used to it!

Also, your current video has the title: "EVE Online Rookie Guide 20 don't make this mistake with rigs" how would that help anyone? Only someone who watches all your videos is going to view it (and who does that really?), the title itself makes no sense. Someone who searches the net about "how do rigs and calibration work?" will not get your video as a result. It's the same as the "a question?" or "please help" topic titles. They only work when the topic is *hot*, as in, on the first page of the forums. After that it's never been looked at. Now I think about it.. it's probably for the best ;)

YES YES YES!!!! i am a newb, not even at a mil SP and i already love this game for this exact reason. Ive had my ass bite a few times already by rushing on purchases and not doing the right investigating on if a fit will work and how well. If you have an issue with that, better start clenching your rear cause its gonna get worse.......

Instead of getting up-tight and posting videos, slow down and look into what youre buying.
If you know what youre doing, go full-steam ahead. If your trying something new, take the time to check the details first.

Posting Rage Posts will get you flamed and trolled

I am offended at how Dorrann highlighted my need to not learn from my mistakes and blame others for my pain and for that Dorrann will be hearing from my attorney. I expect to be awarded the maximum amount for your implied slander, sir!

I knew about 3rd party fitting tools. I don't like using EVE Mon, EFT, etc. I will go out of my way to tell others to use it. But, it's kinda useless for me.

One of the reasons why I posted this video is to show newer players what not to do. In fact, I found in RL knowing others mistakes can help you out more. Obviously a newer player can learn from this critical mistake.

The trolls come out no matter what. They tend to say something, then just repeat what the last person said.

Oh I see, preventing you from getting so mad that you post a rage video on YouTube and link it here is "kinda useless for you". Noted. (For the new players: EFT would have told him right away that he couldn't fit all the rigs you wanted.)

I don't know if you have noticed, but your self-promoting ads about your video "guides" are the only threads devolving into flames in the New Citizens forum. Maybe, just maybe, you should take a good look at what (and whom) all these threads have in common to identify the troll?

This just in, EVE is hard.

Also OP, the box that popped up with the warning, The only way to remove this rig is by destroying it. didn't make you think twice about what you were doing and make you a bit more curious about those mysterious rig things?

You claim to want to help people learn things about the game but yet it sounds like your unwilling to learn about the game yourself...
