So I thought:
if you CCP guys are going to use TiDi tool during the tournament anyway, then why not make /pause option for team captains? (Or better even give it to each player in team, as team captain can disconnect as well.) I'm pretty sure you can slow TiDi down to 0%, or 0.00001%. Give 1 pause per team per match and 5 min pause limit (enough to reboot your router/pc/whatever), allow it to be used only when one of the players drops so it does not get abused, and this will exclude the "disconnect/crash issue" and matches that are throwns because of this factor.
I think any long term tournament player or spectator can recollect tons of pity defeats because of those reasons.

PS Yeah, I'm still bitter about our rokh turtle setup ruined because of a disconnect back in AT6 Sad

I heard neither spectators nor orgs like pauses

ps/ yes i am still bitter about 4-hour-long pauses in midst of dota 2 matches

While that is technically possible now, we won't be doing any pausing for this tournament.

Uhhh, just a guess here, but because every team will use a pause right as the match starts to better assign their EW and outline their tactics, since the time at the start of the match is rather short.. Barring that, or if they didnt use their pause at the start as soon as they start to lose they will throw out another pause to try and fight their way out of it. If that moment also passes the team which is getting knocked out gets bitter and drops a 5 minute pause to annoy the other team.

Yeah that all is a part of it - we'd have to really nail down under what conditions we would pause and make sure we'd be alright with the implications of it.

The more pressing reason of course is that the tournament isn't very far away and my todo list is already huge.

In this case the team is risking to have no pause when they get a real disconnect.
Pause can be reduced to 2-3 min, not a big deal for commentators to use that time wisely and still entertaining for the viewers.

That's called abuse and needs to be reduced by the rules v0v
Just because some ppl can be a*sholes does not mean that other honest and dedicated players have to suffer.

I heard FIA was going to allow Formula 1 teams to call timeout and stop the race if they had mechanical malfunctions or a tire puncture.

No wait, that would be silly. I probably made that up.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Dial the tidi to 10%. you now have plenty of time to complete all tasks.

I'm pretty sure thats how it works.
