The fitting window is simply too big - Agree or disagree?

It causes a lot of needless clicking to prioritize overlapping windows.

Yes. Can be truly irritating when in a hurry to get something done.

More screens solve all problem. No need to use the in-game browser for your porn.

Wait thats not the problem?

It's "a" problem, just not this particular one.

What do you guys think about the size of the fitting window?

I'm finding it is a waste of damn space. I can't properly fit the other windows I want open with it at the same time. I find myself constantly shifting positions of windows in order to do various things in relation to ship fitting. .

Get a bigger monitor... or learn to close the truly useless crap that clutters up your session.

In terms of inventory and fitting, one window cuts off the other no matter where they are moved. I can resize the inventory window so it's not the case, but then it becomes quite hard to use and/or I end up with missing information.

On a 1920x1080 monitor it's fine. Anything smaller would make it more difficult to distinguish the modules (important to see when switching them with other fits, as the database can be very iffy in switching them -- the fitting mechanism is borked at the moment).
I'm at 1080p too. Certain sections certainly should not be smaller - as I find most UI elements in the game to be too small - however there is plenty of wasted space beyond that. For instance the whole center section which shows how modules look when fitted onto your ship. It's a nice touch but takes far too much space. The way in which the slots are positioned in a circle; again, not an ideal use of space either. I believe all this information could be reduced to an area roughly half to two-thirds the size of the current window without losing any functionality.

To the rest: The above quote from Ace is a perfect example of how to properly disagree with someone's suggestion. So I ask most others who have disagreed: trolling or didn't read the OP? You do yourselves no favors by making yourselves appear so closed-minded.
"Buy a bigger monitor", "close windows".... lmao, this is why so many things in this game stay unfixed or don't get discussed fully.

An option to turn off the ship preview would be nice.

Not exactly an essential part of the system.

Turn off all graphics, and just run as an Excel Plugin.

Graphics are not exactly an essential part of this math formula game.

Clicking the arrow thingy on the right side compacts it down a bit to just the fittings itself... might help?

Size of that window is not a problem shame that functionality is far from what we get from 3rd party tools. But of course "they talk, they have ideas, nothing is currently done" as usual.

True for every single window in the game so get over it.

It cannot be re sized or made opaque. You can close the info panel on the right however that is more important to me than the other panel TBH, and it still suffers from a height issue independent of this.

Am I missing something? If not, who else agrees that the window size needs to be reduced/reducible?

"Use X 3rd party software" - Thanks, not looking for a work-around though, discussing the in-game feature itself.

Well if you want to talk about size don't look down.. You'll only be embarrassed!

You people paying attention out there? Ace is being held up as a perfect example of how to properly disagree with someone else's point of view without being an ass.

I agree. The OP wanted to discuss a subject he perceived as an issue that needed discussion. Some gave good answers while others just showed their asses.....

Look at who I'm trying to convince to be more civil in their discourse..... I'm wasting my time here....

Personally i don't see the issue. It's not like i have to fit my ship while under fire, or while using loads of other windows at the same time (and i have to fit ships at a POS). It's something that i focus on until its done, and then click, the window is gone again.

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

Bump. The window is waaaay too big!

They need to remove the middle section that shows your ship, or at least give you the option to close it. Get rid of having the modules circle around, just put them in rows and columns like normal organization would dictate.

The fitting window describes the exact issues with this game nowadays: Simple, fundamental things going unfixed while CCP puts their energy towards non-sense.

The fitting window is redundant. And it does take up too much space. They should ditch it. Instead, the cap dial...whatever you call it, should hide when you dock but still be able to reappear by ticking a button at the bottom of the screen and you should be able to fit you ship directly to/from the module buttons with a slight addition to show rigs/subsystems.

No.

This is a poor idea for a multitude of reasons.

There's information in the fitting window that you can't exactly get elsewhere.
You also seem to be discounting the fact that you can move module buttons around in order to map them to different function keys. For example, you can have your guns on F1, scram on F2, MWD on F3, DC2 on Alt+F1, etc. So they don't actually correspond with their physical locations on the racks.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem except the location of modules on a rack does matter, since that determines the spread of heat when overloading modules.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

What to big you mean to small. Playing on 5760x2160 (6 screens) I NEED BIGGER UI.
