Missiles against Amarr ships?

I recently moved to Gallente space and started doing level 3 missions in my Drake Battlecruiser however when I did a level 3 mission against the Amarr I found my ship doing terrible damage against cruisers.

I should have been doing 400 damage a shot with kinetic heavy missiles at 43km instead I was doing about 70. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm shooting the wrong type of missiles at them. Weird thing is I've done level 3s in a cruiser against amarrians before and I had no problem in killing them.

So what am I doing wrong?

just switch damage types and see if it works. Also mission forums are thata way ------>

Well there are a few things that affect missile damage.

- Velocity of your target (the faster it is moving, the less damage you do)
- Signature radius (the smaller the signature, the less damage you do)
- Resists (the higher resists to kinetic, the less damage you do)

What you can do is google the name of the ship you are shooting at. You probably end up on eveinfo.com which contains a database of all ships and their resists. For example: http://eveinfo.com/npcship/16933/eve-online-corpii-upholder.html (blood faction though).

If kinetic resists are the problem, the Drake probably isn't your best option since you are gimping it if you load any other missile than kinetic. In general Amarr are vunerable to EM and Thermic damage, so your kinetic missiles could just as well be the problem.

Throw EM/Thermal damage at Amarr. Simple as that!

Pretty much this.

Rule of thumb: NPCs are weakest against the type of damage they deal (and resistant against everything else).

You can shoot mjinlor's from the drake without taking too big a hit to your dps. Its certainly notable but not a deal breaker. I'm actually surprised that your not here complaining about how the drake's brick tank is worthless against lasers.

- yeah...use EM missiles (mjolnir) against Amarr

- Don't accept missions against one of the empire factions (Gallente, Minmatar, Caldari, Amarr) if you care about lowering your standings with one until their navy shoots you if you go into their territory

yeah I tried all types of missiles and it was still poor damage and I couldn't break their active armour tank. Ulltimately had to get a corp mate in another battlecruiser to come in and overwhelm them.

Looked the ship type up on the npc database and they have something stupid like70-90% resistance to everthing across the board.

I've done some other missions and even against amarr ships I do so much better. I guess that that one mission is just slightly broken.

These ships you've encountered are elite versions. If it were pirates you could tell by their outstanding bounties. They occour in some of the missions. For example The Blockade has quite a bunch of them.

If you can't deal with them you should work on your damage related skills - including drones - and/or rethink your fitting. You should have two or three Ballistic Control System II fitted on your Drake. Use less than three only if you're having issues with tanking.
