So as you all bitter-vets keep mentioning the MD forum is "kind" of boring - most of the time it only sees loan requests / fail scams / wierd questions...and one crazy dude thinks we gonna steal his pants Big smile

So here comes:

THE MARKET DISCUSSIONS MEGA MOVIE THREAD

We all know those movies with Brokers / bank robbers / cool heists / Wall street / getting rich / corporations and many more...
And although you can't classify them all into one genre, we all know what those movies are...

So ill just start with my favorite ones, although i am a bit shallow Roll

1. Catch me if you can
2. The color of money
3. Ocean's eleven
4. The Pursuit of Happyness
5. Slumdog Millionaire
6. The sting
7. Trading Places
8. Office Space
(random order)

Lately i saw a related movie called: Tower Heist, its funny, watch it Big smile

In addition, there is this movie coming out soon, looks promising: The Wolf of Wall Street ...

I also read about more serious movies like:

1. The Corporation
2. Wall Street
3. The Firm
4. Boiler Room
5. Margin Call
6. Rogue Trader
7. Limitless

So if anyone saw them, tell us if they are good...

So what are we supossed to do in this thread?
You can write here you favorite "market" movies or even regualr movies, write about any movie you like, write about the movies you watch while station trading, reccomend movies, troll the hell out of this thread, or whatever...

In addition: a THREAD GAME:
If this thread reaches 44 (4-4 Blink) pages, the fourth post on the 44th page, WINS A FREE PLEX!!

Boiler Room is good,

Margin Call is also very good

Wall Street 1 is good, Wall Street 2 is ok, but a bit meh.

Rogue trader is OK.

For heavy duty. The documentary "The Corporation" is mandatory imho..

For the lighter sides of life I can warmly suggest "Cocktail" Big smile The Yuppie Poet alone makes it highly SCC-Lounge relevant.

i am half tempted to write a script that will spam this thread up to 44 pages. also, not exactly a movie, but i enjoyed the first few seasons of mad men.

I should buy an Ishtar.

This bittervet finds it boring at the moment not because the content is the type you identified but because there are not enough threads of the type you identified. The issue is volume rather than type (for me at least). MD receives about half the posts now that it did before the switch to the new forums and most of that fall-off has been in the last year.

That said, nice initiative and hopefully it won't be screwed up by the mods moving it to the death-pit of Out of Pod Experience.

As for an MD related movie, mine involves a hauler who is engaged in contract work based on inter-regional arbitrage. He deals with low-life scum, survives various gank attempts, puts up with a bunch of white knights, and even manages to survive getting webbed. Star Wars, ofc.

There are two types of EVE player:

those who believe there are two types of EVE player and those who do not.

My only hope was to increase the volume of course, but as i currently don't have any loan to give/ask and still haven't found something directly MD related, this was my best option Ugh

Forum concord: Please don't move us, we trying something new.

Brilliant. Bravo.

by looking at IMDB top 250, the first 10 films:
1. The Shawshank Redemption - A banker gets jailed.
2. The Godfather - Family bussines goes into trouble.
3. The Godfather: Part II - family bussines comes out of trouble.
4. Pulp Fiction - starts with a rubbery. enough said.
5. The good, The bad and the ugly - Search for a treasure.
6. The Dark Knight - city goes into economicial problems.
7. 12 Angry Men - no idea..
8. Schindler's List - Small manufactorer saves people?
9. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - no idea..
10. Fight Club - anti-corporate movie..

So 8/10 movies have market related issues, guess money makes the world around...

I really liked the TV show, "Suits". It is largely money related, and the characters can be pretty viscous about it.

Also, there are a few others, but I am going to spread them out across this thread so I have something else to talk about nearing page four :D...

Viscous or vicious? Both seem appropriate in their own way.
