Suggestion: Launch All Drones Shortcut Key

It would be cool if there was a Launch All Drones Shortcut Key to match the Return to Drone Bay shortcut.

I also miss that short-cut, but i have something like 29 drones in my domi exactly which 5 drones should it launch?

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

Options are good. Launch drones is an option. If u have a mixture of drones and dont want 5 random drones launched dont use the shortcut. For those who only have 1 type of drone in hanger its a great option

Options are good, poorly designed features are not. A short cut the only works for ships with 5 drones, is are poorly designed feature.

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.

What exactly happens when you hit that key with a ship with tons of drones?

5 at random?

Well from a design point of view that is a trivial complaint. Pilots can already create groups for drones. Just allow the pilot to choose which group in the dronebay gets launched when the shortcut is pressed and put an icon on the group folder to indicate it is selected as the quick command group. If more drones are in a group then can be launched, launch the first five available on the group list. The details of what gets launched within a group is largely irrelevant as long as players have the ability to manage their drone groups. The only way something unwanted gets launched is if the player hasn't bothered to group his drones properly.

Probably why it was not implemented with the other short cuts, the drone group feature don't seem all that advanced, you can't even group drones not of the same type, maybe it was never designed to work with the short cut concept.

This is a bad suggestion and it should feel bad for being such a bad suggestion.

Something in the lines of 'drag a group of drones to the hotbar'. Its not that hard. Just pull some developers of Dust 514 and put them on EVE. Pirate

Perhaps they need a total overhaul of the drone system, starting with the controls....

That's probably how I would do it, if I had my druthers. Drag drones to hotbar button: when button is pressed the drones are either launched if they aren't already in space, or told to "do their thing" on the selected target. Thus a mining drone would try to mine stuff, a logistics drone would try to repair stuff, an ECM drone would make people post on the forums, etc.

Then a right-click option for the button would be "Recall" in place of the "Reload" present for weapons that use ammunition.

Finer control — such as "return and orbit" or "assist fleet member X" — would remain in the drone UI window, assuming that functionality is kept.

I think the solution here is to redo the drone interface into something that is better than its current crap state.

I like this idea. You would probably have to introduce a pre-defined "Drone Group" that cannot be deleted called "Default" or something like that. When setting up your ship you would put your favourite drones in that group and they would be the ones to get launched when you hit the hotkey.

Failing this, put a 1-click launch button on the title bars for all the drone groups.
