I use Win7 64bit on really good hardware. I started playing just before they changed the launcher. It used to start up fast, and got me into the game quickly. The new launcher takes a long time to start up and to render on the screen. I think we need a launcher for the launcher.... Lol

Yer, the day my launcher doesn't start up in Offline Mode after every other patch is the day I stop using ExeFile.exe.
...and the day CCP start forcing us to use the launcher, is the day I quit eve, because...errmmmm, the fuckin launcher is always in OFFLINE MODE!!!

Reminds me of the couple years of my iPhone not being able to send pics over SMS, and then, when they finally added that functionality, SJ pranced around on stage about it like it was the newest thing since sliced bread, and he had invented it.

(not knocking the launcher, I'm running a 6 year old HP with Win 7 64, and I 2 year old iMac bootcamped running win 7 32, never a problem, either with this or the last launcher (remember just as many people bitched about it as this one) and the HP does seem to load faster now, but is unscientific, as I never actually timed either start up. )

Yep, it's still terrible. Instead of taking an opportunity to make logging in multiple accounts and switching between characters easier, it's made it take longer and be more awkward.

yes ive reported this launcher to Microsoft. and they seam to think having a program to open a program a bit stupid

Actually Microsoft installers bootstraping is used to get privlidges to be able to install for example.

The same is used for compilation processes, using a language to compile its own self when designing languages (which I do).

Upon one of many crashes it showed evidence of Some Blizzard or WOW modulesPirate

Thats all I need to know.

Eve now takes much much longer to launch. If launcher is up and not relaunched before an update is downloaded it crashes. Junk Bloatware, Reminds me of Windows ME trying to load adobe products. Nothing on my machine is as bad come to think of it. Agree with OP. Keep working CCP.

Are you a ret@rd? How is launching a splash screen once for multiple accounts slower than launching a graphical UI multiple times for every account. Also do you not realise the launcher can be closed once the clients are running..... I swear people just complain about the launcher because it is something new and familiar rather than for any other reason.

I have a solution to the new launcher which is as follows and works well for me:

1. Create a short cut to the eve exe file and drop it on your desktop next to the launcher shortcut.
2. Run the eve launcher and let it do its update thing.
3. Close the eve launcher and forget about it until after next DT.
4. For the rest of the day, use your eve exe file shortcut.

If you bypass the launcher you still get the 'log off' button on the eve client 'esc' screen. When switching accounts just hit 'log off' and your client will close and then re-launch itself for your next character login.

Dear CCP, please don't take away the 'log off' button Smile. Using the launcher to cycle through my PI alts will drive me mad.

That's only a short term solution.

Have you missed the fact that the exe file method is going to be removed?

Its going on 2 mos? Of the launcher crashing for me. On the off chance they remove exe file and the launcher still doesnt work ill have no way to play.

Options are good. They should keep the exe option for those who want or need it

That's probably what the devs think too, but there are legit reasons to complain about it. I usually like new and different, i'm not afraid of change. But if the change degrades something I will not just swallow it silently.

This attitude, to just dismiss critics by pointing to some peoples fear of change is just a lame excuse to dodge the actual arguments and end the discussion. Nothing good will come from that.
