Taking a look in the character sale section it looks like alto of people are training spaceship command for every race now a-days...what hapend to specking for just one/two races

Whats this I will inject/train every race in spaceship CMD because I can and dont even touch the gunnery/missile skills its just a waist of time if you ask me

The recent skill changes probably have something to do with that.

Maybe we did specialize than the second or third year came around. I'm almost maxed out on all 5 and haven't been playing as long as many.

Besides fleet warfare requires versatile pilots.

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

Ship rebalances mean people can choose a ship suitable for their particular requirements, rather than just training FOTM.

Considering the FOTM ship changes on a monthly basis, not crosstraining leaves you in highsec without a paddle....

Why specialise? Just make an alt for every possible specialization and you can be perfect in 1% of the time it should take.

Which would take 2 accounts. Only have 3 alts and there's 4 factions. Each faction has 2 weapons. So essentially that's 3 accounts if you also factor in your trade alts. That equals paying $45/mon. WoW you just need 1 account to play every race/class in both factions.

4 alts for 1 weapon system per faction, you'll have a point. But not how it's setup now.

CCP said 'FREE SP HERE', so everyone jumped in and trained for them whether it made any sense or not.

The good thing is that they are so plentiful right now, you can get one for less than it cost to train them. On top of that, my specialized characters are worth even more.

You're kinda forced to play every race and class because there's so little content to keep players occupied. Any content that was relevant in the past is now obsolete, there is no need for players to interact or communicate, less than 1% of the player base does heroic level raiding so there is no need for meaningful guilds and you're basically stuck doing the same dailies and BGs every day. Blizzard continue to make the game easier and easier for casual players and continue to kill off World PvP on PvP servers to satisfy carebears. There is literally no content beyond dailies, LFR and transmog runs.

Why lock yourself into one play style?

Then there is the fact you can only specialize so long. After you run out of things to train you have to pick something new.

Pretty much once you hit 100 million SP there is no point in specializing in anything unless you want to lock your account to a Titan or something.

But for those of us preferring normal ships, There isn't much left to train for except some of the weapon specialization 5 stuff.

Industry people, same story. At some point there just isn't a skill that makes Veld less dangerous Shocked

Or real consequences in PvP, and be even cheaper to play than even WoW.

I still have to pay for every death in WoW. When was the last fleet you had to pay a dime?

Training an alt for caldari ships. Just over a year of training now and I've specialised him into every sub-command ships caldari hull to a high degree of proficiency. Ergo, all I have left to specialise with him is command ships, battleships, marauders and blackops, and then maybe I'll consider capitals. Many people won't bother with marauders and blackops because quite frankly they're awful, hence that cuts around a hundred or two hundred days off the training queue.

That makes it just under two years to fully specialise in one race. That being the missile race also means that crosstraining between the gunnery races would be very quick and easy - gallente to amarr is just a matter of training gunnery specialisations and racial-specific spaceship command skills. There's no need to even learn shield tanking. This is why very few characters are totally race-specialised.
