Modernising Mining Barge Model

I love the look of the Primae and Noctis ship designs. The detailing and texturing is superb and they look like actual space vessels. In comparison, the mining barges look very dated and the texturing on them is quite ugly. Even the new strip miner models look better produced. The designs for the mining barge models need an update drastically.

CCP I think needs to clean up the model but as for a complete revamp I think it looks fine the way it is. I would like to see a t2 indy command ship first. Preferably with indy core capabilities. An Orca just can't keep up with a fleet of Hulks.

Also the more rigid look of the barges now I think would reflect eh down to earth mind set of most miners we don't need anything fancy. It'll just get dirty anyway.

Some newer mining barges would be nice, but I do rather like the current models. Maybe if they were a big larger, with less of an emphasis on being long.

Spotlights that light up nearby asteroids would be really, really cool.

I'm serious, CCP, add spotlights now.

The mining barges already have grinding gears, pumping pistons, and they shoot flames. Show me a combat ship that shoots flames.

Exhumers and Mining Barges need some work imo. A drastic redesign would be ideal. They look silly and impractical. I'd like to see something along the lines of the Primae, with brighter colors such as yellow strips on top.

You mean they look like this?

Or like this?

Or maybe even like this?

I am confused by your perception of what an "actual space vessel" looks like, because nothing in eve looks remotely like an ACTUAL space vessel.

the models themselves are fine -- very utilitarian, nothing fancy (shooting fire and the moving bits are a bonus though).

the textures need a little help though (and likely will get that help with the V3 textures). Let's wait and see, kay?

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia
