BRP, Storytelling, hell even the D6 avalanche of Shadowrun beats it silly. Lol

Just wait till you need 40 odd d10s for playing Exalted. ;)

At least it's not Deadlands. That has weird probability curves due to using all the regular dice types for stats in varying numbers. is 4d6 better than 2d12? ;)

Woo! CSM XI!

It was out in 1978 when I started Advanced D&D, and still played at the conventions to after 1985.

That's AD&D, not d20 (which was unleashed on the world in 2000). And AD&D providing the proto-form in 1977 just shows how outmoded the system is. The fact that it's being used to this day is probably on of the main reasons why pretty much all fantasy MMOs are flawed beyond redemption.

At least in the EVE RPG the monster table would say %LIAR and it would not be a typo this time.

You're confusing the D20 character system (D&D 3.0) with d20.

Dice are lowered lettered.

And d20 dice existed before 2000... http://www.scribd.com/doc/49447879/Gamma-World-Rulebook

Proto-form? Old? In the day it was NEW. So new we were playing it at the conventions during the 80s still.

…you mean like in the d20 System, sprung from D&D 3E? No, it's spelled with a small 'd'. You're just confused by my capitalising it at the beginning of a sentence.

Proto-form? Old?
Yes. Old. At this point, it's 36 years old and, while a neat idea at the time, it was deeply, fundamentally flawed (not surprisingly, since it was just a fancier version of a miniature battle system and since someone had to go first and five headlong into all the pitfalls), and has since been superseded by vastly better systems.

Just because it saw some limited revision and finally bloomed putrefied into the d20 System a quarter of decade later doesn't mean it's in any way modern.

EVE planet builder FTW. Can be the game Sim City failed to be and can interact with the EVE economy.

Capsuleers and Colonizers = C & C = another legendary title = This can only be the best idea ever!

Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first.

Oh Exalted, you're so wacky.

When your Sidereal pickpockets the boss and gets his childhood memories, that's a special moment.

No, you shouldn't rely on the internet for information you don't know about, Tippia.

You're getting your information from here ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D20_System ... yet you don't understand the difference.

If you did, you wouldn't even need to breech the D20 system, as I wasn't referring to it at all. 20 sided dice are used for rolling your character attributes, it meant nothing else.

Wordsmithing as usual.

I'm not. I'm relying on the owners of the related IPs for information. You know these guys, who have labelled their system the “d20 System” (lower-case ‘d’).

So in other words, you completely misunderstood what I was referring to when I said that d20 was obsolete, or when I made the distinction between AD&D (the roots of the d20 System) and the d20 System itself?

That would actually be quite interesting.

But I have to admit that I've rarely found myself around any larger group of 102+ year olds ;)

I've got a couple of d100 here as well as the other assorted dice from my D&D and RuneQuest days back in the late 70s.

I remember Traveller though; roll a character, he's a bilge cleaner. Roll again and then the next thing he's a Fleet Admiral just like the last twenty that you created...

I don't see it happening. Would be sweet but I don't think they can handle an RPG. They can barely keep up with eve and DUST514 let alone an RPG.
