When will we see the Eve RPG?

I was going to ask if CCP was ever going to leverage White Wolf's expertise in the RPG market, but a little Googling showed me that there were plans at one time to develop an Eve RPG.

The RPG market right now has very few decent choices for sci-fi, the dark world of Eve seems a perfect fit for White Wolf's writers, and tabletop gamers love the dystopian kind of feel too. Knowing that the project was started, but was later put on the shelf, really feels like a lost opportunity. Are there any plans to revive the project?

Perhaps you missed the EVE card game that went over so well.

I think I sent Marc my money for it back in 2006.

Never was impressed with Traveler on the whole. It does have an excellent section for building space ships though; I've stolen that and plopped into other games from time to time.

It seems to have been shelved pretty quickly as part of the whole 'oops we bought White Wolf on a drunken whim what were we thinking' fallout post-financial crash.

Every time you post a WiS thread, Hilmar strangles a kitten.

You approach the mining barge.

Roll the D4 to see if you can target.

You are out of targeting range.

Roll the D4 to see if you can target.

Target locked.

Roll the D10 to see if you scramble.

You scrambled the miner!

Roll D20 to see how long you have before CONCORD shows up.

You have 15 seconds.

Roll D10 to see if you hit the miner with your blaster.

You hit the miner with your blaster!

Roll the D20 for damage.

You hit the miner for 120 damage!

Roll the D20 for damage.

You hit the miner for 150 damage!

CONCORD has arrived!

CONCORD rolls D20 to apply damage!

You find yourself in a pod.

Eve RPG.

******* kill me now.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

You've never been a real gamer unless you have stepped on a d4.

Prefer 20 sided for better real gamer stats. Twisted

I'll never miss playing d20 systems. Those d20s are giant chaos engines. Fudge works well, the StoryTeller system works well, 3d6 systems work well. Modifiers to the roll actually mean something when you have some kind of normal curve.

Shadowrun. Screw your d20, I have ALL THE D6s.

Actually, an EVE CRPG would be pretty interesting if done right.

D20? Pff… that system was outdated and obsolete before it was even released — I'd say somewhere around 1980 or so.

BRP, Storytelling, hell even the D6 avalanche of Shadowrun beats it silly. Lol

Maybe after the t.v show(mini-series??) takes off and is a hit...

Ahh... tabletop RPGs. Good old times. Though LARPing was fun too (I sort of approached army time as LARP - with good success).

Fun thing about roleplaying is that you don't really need rules. All you need is good people with imagination and mutual trust. The rest can be worked out. No dice are needed either, though they do make nice sound on hard surfaces. When GMing I used to roll only for sound and made up the numbers so that things developed interesting. Worked perfectly.

This.

I have also (back when I was a GM) created "alternative reality" games that were mixed of different systems as well as had true open world platforms for games (including super hero stuff).

It definitely makes for some good meta game when you ST/DM/GM a game and have to come up with scenarios, not to mention it lengthens your view in the world of "consequences"(not the drinking game).
