How secure are space stations?

ive been thinking about this, depending on the size/inhabitants and what system the station is in sec status etc. How secure are they? are they any shootouts in stations or is it near impossible to smuggle weapons in? do people get kidnapped and assulted in stations? any boosters selling, bribeing the guards? I can imagine that 0.0 and lowsec stations is more dangerous for an outsider to visit due to the gangs that already "run" the station. is it possible to break in to a person or a capsuleers personal room and say kill the clone? how much surveillance is it. discuss.

Highsec security would be quite secure.

I suggest you read the Evelopedia article on baselining to get started.

Much of The Burning Life revolves around life in stations.
According to the book, even null-sec stations have high security measures against weapons. After all, nobody will come to your station if he risks being killed as soon as he puts foot on it.
Then of course, security increases exponentially as you go up through the metaphorical food chain, up to capsuleers quarters, where nobody is ever allowed to enter save for a small selection of trusted personnel (corp agents iirc?). Bribing the guards would be possible only at the lower levels, where they aren't paid that much and a lot of people goes through to they point they may not know them all.
