I don't think ccp realise how much of a massive feature this is... after playing other online games (yes I've tried WoW -.-) nothing apart from sounds and text are changed when shots are fired or swords swiped... all the animations are the same etc...

but now with this... it really is an industry first for online games from what I've seen.

why not use that... perfect shots shot where it shot now (in middle of the ship) all other have some offset by the data given.. so it hits a little up/down/left/right from center... that way we visually have few groups of offsets and not all shots hit in perfect middle of the ship when it hits... Big smile

I imagine it's setup the way it is at the moment because they couldn't have it like that idea. First the current system has to gauge the target ("the first shot always hits, sorry") then it can do the calculations. It probably has something to do with the fact that it is basing it off of actual realtime data, instead of numbers they can just put into a system that declare missed, hit, etc.

Just speculation I guess, considering it is real time person vs person and not just person vs npc (Where you can put some parameters on NPC that can say hit or miss chance, etc ...it's called lazy programming/designing).


I've already mentioned in the past that the computers on these ships should be incredibly advanced and able to predict target movement and fire appropriately, the hit or miss factor should really be based on your position in "space" at the time, given that the weapon platforms are mounted in a specific manor that can put them into bad situations (unable to track well or hit the target because you are not properly aligned to the target).

a lot of these recent features concerning the eve winter expansion have been hit and miss

but this feature is a definite hit

Pretty epic

I was noticing that there was a minor bug since the last few patches were some grouped lasers don't lock on a new target you are firing at until partway though the cycle.. didn't complain because it looked really nice. I assumed this had happened because you were working on it.

Hopefully hectic gunfire with be cutting through fleets for some spectacular light shows soon!
