Sounds like a perfectly reasonable idea to me. Cant see any draw backs and the people who are arguing against it are just clueless.

I fail to see why it would be a good idea to add tiers to any ship class when CCP is putting so much effort into removing tiers completely.

Not only does the OP's idea add nothing but graduated differences of the same attributes between the ships, but it also clearly introduces a skill requirement difference within the same primary skill: Freighters I, II, & III. Once a player has access to OP's Tier 3 freighter (which lets be honest, everybody currently flying a freighter would) , there is no reason to use the smaller ones. They offer no advantage besides cost over the other ones. Worse EHP and worse Capacity with no mentioned difference in agility, fitting, or other miscellaneous attributes.

The smaller classes are almost useless once access to the largest size is gained. This goes completely counter to the Tiericide effort.

I do support the addition of a smaller freighter, but not at the cost of reintroducing tiers. You'll need to try again without the lazy tier idea. Start by making a significantly useful difference between the sizes at max skills. One could be the fastest and most agile, one could have the highest EHP, and one could have the highest cargo capacity. If you do that, you'll have my support.

I'm not a ship balancing mogul though, and I'm not a hauler by trade... so my suggestion might not even be a good one. I can say that if you want CCP to do this, you're going to need to drop the tier idea. They won't go for it.
