Most versatile ship?

I would like everyone's opinion on which ship is capable of filling just about every role in eve.

Ratting, missioning, running plexes, exploration, pvp, heck even mining occasionally.

Basicly one ship that can easily be fitted to do anything you are in the mood for.

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

Hmm.. kind of alot there...

I'd have to say the Hurricane would be a good bet in that direction.

Tengu. It can do all of those (one of the offensive subs gives it 5 turret hardpoints for mining lasers). You're better off getting 2-3 different ships for different roles though.

Something in a lower price range than a Tengu. Thought about the hurricane and also possibly a domi for its drones.

Also a Tengu is a ways down the road for me as of now.... someday though Lol

Drake.

Lvl 3-4, Exploration and Wormhole PvE
Nano, Small Gang, Blob PvP

It can do a lot with a 60mil fully fitted price tag.

The Dominix, hands down. You can fit that bugger in so many different ways, its staggering. Ewar Domi, Logi Domi, Neut Domi, Damage Domi to name a few. Some fits are more viable than others but I don't think any ship is as versatile. The Myrmidon and Typhoon come close, but they are still easily behind the ol' space potato.

A Domi can fill it's highs, lows, mids and rigs with non-combat mods and still use its primary weapon (5 heavy drones) without penalty. Most other ships are severely gimped when you have to use slots for probes launchers, cloaks, tractors, salvage, code-breakers etc . A fully exploration fit Domi is still a viable PVE ship.

I was leaning toward cross training into another race, so far sounds like gallente may be a good choice. Ive had fun as caldari but I am to a point where I'm sick of missiles.

Thanks for all the responses.

For the same reason people say Domi and Myrm, dont forget the Ishtar. Its a bit more nimble than our loveable Space Potato.

Drakes can't use mining lasers, please read OP.

For the BC head towards Hurricanes as you will end up PVPing in one at some point. The Myrmidon is also a good boat but I'd spend the money on a Gila if you have decent Gal Cruiser skills.

Cross training into an omnivore Battleship then you need to consider drones. The cheap Domi can do a load and is very versatile - the huge drone bay gives all kinds of options for offence, defence and support. Good drone skills are also very useful regardless of which ship you fly but drone interface IV is a must have minimum to get decent DPS.

The real question should be who are you going to shoot? Minmatar boats have very good damage selection compared to Gall and Amarr but need good skills to truly shine. As you are shield spec'd already you should find the race easier to move into but if your gun skills are weak then there is a lot of training to be had.

The Amarr race is less usefull. The Arbiter(T1) and Pilgrim(T2) can be very good drone boats (see a pattern here?) and if BS mining is your thing then the capacitors and low slots on Amarr ships are very usefull.

TL;DR: Domi with lots of drone skills that are transferable to other races.

You will not regret skilling up for, or using a dominix. One of the roles that was harder to use is being made much better, and that is the gank domi. It will effectively do RR, cap battery, mining, exploration, close range dps, long range dps, EWAR... about the only skills that aren't useful for a dominix pilot is missiles and lasers.

Personally I wish they'd swap the domi's hybrid dmg bonus for the myrms rep bonus, as I think it would fit better and I find it silly that it compares if not betters the mega and hypes gank.

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?
