You wanted market pvp when you thought you could make a quick buck out of someone else's "mistake" entering prices on the market/contract, but when it turns out to be a scam then suddenly you don't like market pvp anymore. That's hypocrisy and you are greedy and deserved to be scammed.

Thank you for that PSA.

Next time try the 'reply' button instead of 'new topic'?

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Well, this shows some players are very "sensitive" about this subject, and don't want a sacred cow to be changed.

Scamming as a mechanic is a fools errand, because in the end it will be tweaked. Anything that can affect the bottom line of a game is on notice it can be changed, and sometimes even overnight.

And scamming devs to keep scamming alive is a sure method to get their attention (which is why it's often advised to not talk about certain subjects, unless you do want scamming to end, then...carry on!).

If scamming ends, so will Eve.

Scamming to a certain extend is interesting, and keeps everyone on the edge though. However I believe there should be certain checks in place.

I can appreciate a good well thought out scam (Butterfly Effect). But I can't really appreciate the endless local spamming of people saying give me X million/billion and I double it for you up till a maximum of X amount. Read my bio for more information.

However, in one case (Erotica, there is a topic about him on this forum) which is very amusing because there seem to be a lot of people believing he isnt a scammer... that guy puts alot of effort in his 'image' and is a really good scammer which I kinda respect.

You want to scam people because of your greed. You thought you would take advantage of people's ignorance of the market place and pretend you were doing it for some noble cause. It's easier for you to do that if you don't have to admit that you are a thief. Better to blame the other person, who probably has no idea why you are offering a higher price for something than is likely to be right. In fact, that person has no obligation to figure out why you are listing the item at such a high price. That person figures you made the buy order so you must want the goods. Nice try, but you are the one who is pond scum.

Scamming is something that CCP does not want to police, and that's why it's allowed. It completely negates risk vs reward. I don't think a lot of people talk about Eve being such a great game because of all the scamming it allows. Just a hunch.

I take it you are feeling a bit guilty about your need to steal. I'm sure you'll manage to overcome your tiny speck of a conscience, though.

That in the end is it's Achilles heel.

If the negatives are higher than the positives, devs rethink designs.

It's tolerated in EvE for now. Like can flipping was tolerated. If/when the bottom line gets hurt, expect scamming to be redefined in EvE.

EvE is only "player controlled" if it doesn't effect the cash flow. Touch that sacred cow, things change quickly.

I don't care for scammers. That's why I created an honest game of isk doubling.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

I'm just throwing my 2 isk into the conversation. You should try to add value to the forum instead of trolling it incessantly.

Not strictly true. They might have simply been ignorant. Or careless. Or in a hurry (see: Careless).
But yeah, a large percentage, probably the majority, were folks looking to 'get something for nothing' or looking for a bargain at someone else's expense.

My 2 isk is that you keep your scam in-game instead of promoting it here incessantly. Blink

No one ever buys into my scams. Why can't I ever fool people into paying me billions for 10 soldiers? Sad

Scamming is not a mechanic, though.

You got that one the wrong way around. If scamming was redefined, it would hurt the bottom line.
Oh, and your use of “was” in the context of can flipping is incorrect. What you mean to say is that can flipping is tolerated.

Eve's only truly honest isk doubling business! Don't waste time with scammers and their bs! This is not charity but a business that is funded by those who cannot follow these simple rules, so I rarely have to dip into my own reserves. I make my isk from those that fail to read rules here, that is what separates me from the scammers.

Rules:

Send me 50M-500M, get 2x back.

Send 600M to 1 Billion get 3x back.
Invest 3-5 Billion and get 5x back!

over 50 BILLION liquid isk, over 250 billion in assets, so your amounts can be easily covered. However, I do limit 3 investments per player. This is necessary to keep business afloat. Each investment must be at least 2x what you received just prior. Toons must be >4 weeks old.

Rules are straight-forward. Amounts not listed are donations.

So some kind of pedantic semantic song and dance, I guess?

Can anyone explain what "her" scam is, exactly?
