Not sure what you mean. You can't fit a ship with the mass of a battleship through a C1.

Sure, you can use a HIC for the last few passes to ensure you end up on the right side, but it's less efficient than other ships to use for the majority of the passes.

Actually, it comes out in the wash in C1 space. My Devoter hovers at just under 20mil KG in normal config (bubbles down, propmod off). So, it's no *less* efficient than any other cruiser you throw at the hole.
