Hi CCP, why not release useful pirate ships like this to you know... the pirates instead of making them exclusive multi billion ISK (read: too much for anyone to risk) dust collectors. First ships that actually seem specialized for piracey I've seen, pretty much ever, and as the posters above me stated, they will probably NEVER see combat. Dumb.

That would be because they, like all of the tournament prize ships, are wildly over-powered and unbalanced.

I said ships "like this" not necessarily these ones. You obviously have good ideas, put them to use.

So developing graphic contents (namely new hulls) is a long, resource needy process, but when it's done, it's done for a hull that will probably never actually see combat, and that most players will never enjoy flying.

Well damn, CCP, that's what I call coherency.

Developing *new* ship designs is a long and resource intensive process, however these ship hulls are used by NPCs so the only additional work was to create two new ship skins as we didn’t need to touch the geometry of the ship.

That's impossible to say right now as it depends on the other stats of the ships (speed, resist layout, ect). As it stands the cruiser isn't that much better then a Loki.

The question is still begging to be answered though: how long until the pirate factions are selling similar ships through their LP stores, or capsuleers have the ability to invent the T2 versions of existing pirate hulls? Being able to fly an Ixion would be nice, being able to fly an Assault Ship variant of the Dramiel would be awesome, and having a covert ops frigate based on the Daredevil would be pretty cool too.

And then there's a new role: a second covert ops ship which like the Chremoas combines cloakiness with firepower like a mini force recon. A cloaky Hawk or Enyo would be an interesting toy :)

Nice work, dev team. I still like the Etana better than either of these though :)

It's basically a covert ops frigate with a teensy bit more firepower than normal. Or maybe it's an assault ship that ate a covert ops for lunch?

i.e.: check the bonuses on your Buzzard, Helios, Anathema or Cheetah.

They are both one high slot away from being OP, as it stands right now the frigate will be an extremely effective frigate killer, but is closer to a stealth bomber than a covert ops frigate in its practical use.
I don't foresee the scanning or the hacking bonus ever being used,
The cruiser will be a neat PVE ship, but with a targeting delay I can't see anyone wanting to bring this out in a fleet fight.

The frigate would seem to be a better grand prize IMO and the cruiser a runner up prize.

On an related note, what is up with all the covert ops ships being released for the tournament prizes.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

i was expecting none the less 90% 80km webs on this recon with all these talks about "designing OP ships"
but bonus-wise this is just...well a loki
maybe when other stats are disclosed and it has the speed of an inty and EHP of a battleship it can be called "massively OP"

I'm pretty sure he was referring to putting in new pirate ships (in general) vs these pirate ships.

That being said, I know everyone would love a poor man's Etana capable of being bridged. Can't we get some sort of cloaky Logi that's not a T3?

Cloak + no recalibration + poor DPS (6 effective guns vs 11.5 normally or ~13 with longer overheat of cambion) on frig make it perfect for just surprise-tackling, its other roles look somewhat limited imo (need to see final stats).

Cruiser has no ability to use gang link but has more dps, compared to loki... well... fair trade i guess?

According to presented data (which shows DPS and DPS projection), not as OP as most of older prize ships imo - at least for tourney setting.

ps Just a thought, maybe HIC with covert ops cloak and no recalibration delay as blood raider prize cruiser? Would look along the line with these two.

Well it looks like the theme for the next few years will be pirate faction T2 ships! Awesome! Pirate

.... Yes... I know...

This is not the same.. Doing relic sites in that ship would be about as daft as daft gets.
