Or GDP should change the colors of ship bought via lp. Eg navy vexor could have a different paint job depending on where the ship/BPC was purchased

So there's this corp with around (insert number here) people from all over the world.

You really believe they'd agree on a paint scheme?

If you answer this question with yes, I have some prime real estate for sale in the Everglades. Also, contract me any amount of ISK and I'll double it.

That said, I'd love to be able to apply a custom paint job to my ship and I wouldn't even be averse to seeing an option for a corp or even alliance specific paintjob to be incl

same goes for custom logo, and yet alliances are able to reach an understanding.

i also support that:

1- alliances with custom logos could be allowed to replace any ship logo with their own

2- alliances could have customs paintjobs for their ships (one? one / race? several to pick from?).

3- this should be optional for viewers to display custom paint job and / or logo (if disbled => display the regular paintjob, maybe 3 levels: no paintjob / only me / all).

4- the fact for one in an alliance to use or not alliance paintjob could be a settings within the alliance (does not change the impact of #3).

5- an extend to paintjob could be that within a given alliance, only a selected list of pilot would be granted access to some paintjobs, in Role Play pov, this could correspond to specific sections of player such as "special forces" etc....

one last spot to be discussed is: under wich conditions for alliances.

i think that, for performances reasons, said paintjobs would need to be within the client files, thus would require CCP's side work to be done to put paintjobs within the game, then updating etc...

of course, 2 things should be done to prevent them from drawning under this awesome feature.

1- a price should be set, either in ISK or even in plex (after all, we are talking about real work from CCP employee here) for one alliance to have is paintjob(s) included

2- there would be "paintjobs session" during which paintjobs could be submitted, then once a threshold date is reached, CCP update the game (any paintjob submitted after said date would be put on hold until the next "paintjobs session" (lenght & how often to be discussed)

No, I don't actually want this.
It will inevitably generate lag even if its just hue value in RGB format tagging a ship.

Should be no server side lag, client side lag would depend on your settings and how many different models with unique textures were on screen at one time.

If it was just RGBA and X,Y,Z changes would be even less likely to cause client side lag.
