C3 Ship Choice w/Logi alt Support

Hi all,

I'm in the midst of planning my first sojourn into wormhole space. I'm planning on setting up solo in a C3 with 1 alt and am looking for some ship choice advice for site running.

My alt has Logi V and near perfect cap skills, and will be in a Basilisk, so I'm looking for a good ship to partner it with. My plan is just to warp in and have the basi orbit me with a few reps running/cap transfer if needed.

My main can fly any battleship that's T1/pirate, and I have T2 cruise missile, blaster (close to rails), autocannon and artillery skills. I also have near perfect gunnery support skills, and solid (though not perfect) missile support skills.

I was initially thinking about a Raven or a RNI, but with my better gunnery skills I was curious if a Maelstrom might be a better choice? I can also field a Machariel, though I'm assuming I'd have to be out of my mind to field a pirate BS in a wormhole. Rattlesnake is also possible but I don't have T2 sentries yet, and with logi backup I'm thinking that ship will end up significantly over tanked.

I'd welcome any thoughts or advice, my goal is to be able to clear every anom and sig that a C3 could throw at me.

I used to use rr mach/tengu pair to clear c3 sites and then had an alt watching wh's. Made lots of isk doin this Big smile Should work fine with basi instead of tengu. Just gotta be smart so you don't get ganked. Trust your gut!

Basi is overkill.

Cool, how much tank do you need on a Mach in a C3, I was thinking 2x invuls, an afterburner and 2x Tracking comps since I'll have the Basi, or is that too low?

I like the idea of a Mach as well because I can fit a shield transporter in the utility high in case the basi gets in trouble.

Think I could get away with an Osprey? Or maybe upgrade to C4s?

Don't go solo. It's boring....difficult....and you're always at the mercy of any group that comes into your hole. Besides, you'd learn more and more quickly from experienced players. There are plenty of small w-space corps that need warm bodies if you want to avoid juvenile politics of larger groups.

Easily get away with Osprey in C3s.

I used to pair a buffer Nightmare with a support Osprey pre-buff to them, it provided enough shields and energy to keep the Nightmare alive easily.

I wouldn't suggest doing C4s unless you can pull 1000+ DPS in your DPS ship, because its just SLOW.

I can easily field a 1100 DPS Machariel, would that work in a C4 with Basi support? Or would I spend forever in the sites still? C4's could be better because they're a little more remote...

Does your alt have any pew pew skills?
Are you really going to get that much more gank on your main battleship vs the plentiful cruiser sized targets thanks to the reps?
How much are you going to lose when you get ganked again?

I've cleared every site in a C3 using two remote rep prophecies. 1k combined dps (less on sigs, drop a DDA for resists), tank for days, don't care much about neuts, RR keeps sleeper aggro off drones. Costing a whole 150 mil if I get ganked and lose both ships. Hell, each of my pods is worth more. They also have spare drone space for ECM to GTFO, a prop mod and can even fit tackle at a cost of an omni should I have support available. Domis can probably do it better, but cost more and neither of my characters can fly a Gallente battleship.

On the down side, It's boring as ****. Your only concerns are Dscan/new sigs/sleeper webs splitting up the ships beyond rep range. Bring friends. Talkin to yourself gets unhealthy. The pew pew you get is more fun with backup too.

I would like you to post 1 actual reply without attacking the "bigger entities" in wh space, how the hell did you get from a question about advice on ships in c3 wh's, to "larger groups" are the devil??? I guess you are proficient at it now. Show me where the big bad bullies touched you.

Anyways running a basi is ineffcient, as you are much better off with two rr tengus. Your second second ship should have an rr and energy transfer already so getting a basi is too inefficient. And just as an advice don't run with pirate ships, they are prime baits and you will lose them, making them also inefficient. C3 could be run with a solo t3, but if you have two characters my choice would be rr tengus. Easy to use, efficient, not too expensive and gtfo faster than battleships.

And yes I do agree than finding a group is much more fun and rewarding than running solo.

dual rr domis worked fine.

failing that dps is a valid form of tanking.. and trigger management becomes important.

also web + target painter makes big diffrence

Battleship + Logi is the best and cheapest combo for C3 anoms. With the right setup you get more dps than with two T3s for much lower cost and with no risk of skillpoint loss.
