Career Path Questions

So I was checking out the personality analyst thing on the website trying to determine what I want to do with my eve life. Mining is dreadfully boring. I want something where I can make money but still be engaged in the game and even provide a challenge here and there.

Three of the career paths were interesting to me in particular.
Planetary Industrialist - http://www.eveonline.com/sandbox/planetary-industrialist/
Salvager - http://www.eveonline.com/sandbox/salvager/
Manufacturer - http://www.eveonline.com/sandbox/manufacturer/

What was mentioned in the Planetary Industrialist section I didn't even know was possible. It sounds like something I would enjoy a great deal.
Salvager might be something I would enjoy. I'm just not sure how to go about it.
Manufacturer I have a general idea of how to get started with, but not sure how active it is, and generally just want more information on it.

Therefore I am asking here. Can you please provide me links to resources and / or provide your own insight into each career path to help me better decide what I might enjoy doing in Eve Online.

Thank you for any help you can provide! :)

PS: I am relatively new. Only recently went over 900k SP.

Here's a pretty good resource for info on salvaging, just don't let EVEUni suck you into their carebear-mill.

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

Taking a look at Salvaging, it might not be my thing. Manufacturing might be, especially if I mixed it with trading.

That test doesn't show any of the really interesting careers.

Develope all three equally.

Planetary Interaction cost some to set up, but even at it's most basic (I define 'most basic as digging stuff out, refining it, then getting it up for sale on the market), it can supply a small but steady input of cash for minimal effort. You can increase that cash input depending on ho wdeep you want to go with PI manufacturing.

Salvaging, if you do any type of PvE pew pew, be it exploration, mission running or just good old fashioned belt ratting then you are loosing outon a portentially lucrative income suppliment. Just about every Mission Runner will have a dedicated salvage ship, and will BM one of their mission wrecks, so that they can then soak up all of that loot and salvage goodness. Your salvage ship doesn't need to be a Noctis, which are not cheep, but a destroyer can fit multiple TB and salvagers.

Manufacturing, can maybe wait a little while before you develope it. But PI, salvage/loot will give you a nice income on their own. manufacturing gives you the option to optimize the profits from the resources you are gathering
