Here's something everyone can agree upon: Incarna was the best thing to happen to EVE.
Would you like to know why?
Three words: Change of direction.

It's the IncarnRAGE, tears, whining and general baby-like attitude which brought us here today. A time of a different, awesome, exciting CCP.

Without the change of direction, we may not have had the following this winter:
-Four new ships
-New cyno effect
-V3 skins for almost half the ships in EVE
-Shots which miss actually miss
-Time dilation
-Hybrid buff (They've actually been buffed again, beyond CCP Tallest's lastest devblog, you know!)
-New nebulae
-31 new T2 modules
-Implants on pod killmails
-Player owned customs offices
-Capital nerf
-New cyno effects
-Better POS refuelling
-New font
-Loot all
-Shiny shadows
-10 second shorter session change timer
-Improved autopilot
-New fitting screen
-Scalable UI
-Stargates pointing towards destination nebulae
-Destroyer buff
-SHIP SPIN COUNTER!!! Big smileBig smileBig smileBig smile
-Engine trails...soon
-Ship skins...soon
-More
-MORE
-MOAR

CCP is apple

Incarna was their 1 month to bankrupcy.

The new direction is Steve's deal with Bill.

Hilmar's vision is the iPad.

Only 20 years to go.

My view is that we should wait until a few weeks after realese when everyone has a chance to digest the new changes and how they effect the game in practice before handing out the gold stars to CCP. But from what I've seen and heard so far, it's looking good.

I disagree, I blame carbonization project getting done the reason why they managed to go back into space, a project that would realistically taken over a 100 people to build eve from the ground back up. 7 Years of development to be recoded from scrap into a newer language and dealing with each and every problem along the way. Adding new features was just something easily doable as eve was poised to be modular then.

First interations of Carbonization happened when planetary graphics 3.0 came out, which was right before PI happened in Tryannis, and they been at it since then. It just seems now they're at a point they can bounce quaters off it all day and get dollar coins back.

BTW half of your list missing.

So all it took was to throw some folks out of the dirigible in front of the remaining employees and in 90 days the team produces enough FiS to make everyone feel like they are getting a real expansion.

So what were they really working on? No WoD work seems to have been done? We see there wasn't any Incarna to speak of. Must have been everyone working on the monocle.

Out of the list, here are the things which I'm not sure are on Sisi right now:
-Player owned customs offices
-Better POS refuelling
-Shiny shadows
-Stargates pointing towards destination nebulae
-Engine trails
-Ship skins

The first 3 have been devblogged, stargate changes have been confirmed by a dev, engine trails are soon(TM) and ship skins are speculation with some evidence in .stuff files.
So, that leaves 2 things which may not be done this winter.
8% of my list is missing. Not quite half.

Unless you mean that my list should be twice as big, of course!

Be sensible. Without Incarna we would have had this stuff 18 months ago and CCP wouldn't have hired 150 employees in Atlanta only to let them go again after wasting millions of dollars and risking bankruptcy on a failed attempt at producing a 3D game engine.

As far as Incarna is concerned I'm not interested until I can walk up behind a war target in a Null sec dive and shot him through the lungs. What we got wasn't worth 18 months of arrested development on FiS.

add to list: missed shots animated to actually miss ships.

edit: another highly asked for and very visual/nice feature, the only thing we need now is missile turrets (on the turrets/shooting front)

I agree with you... about all this "past 2 years DEVS where rewriting all EVEs code" (carbonisation) i know thats the case...
just look how much things they have broken when nothing new is introduced... that you do when you rewriting the code... that are programming errors... and look at tests on SiSi... we are testing something that has not changed anything... something is changed... but under the hood...

I don't want to burst your bubble but it is extremely likely that all of these things were in the making long before any announcement of them. It is very probable that even with 0 complaining this expansion would have had the exact same features added too it, maybe a few less and a few more Incarna additions but even that is unlikely.

In no way am I saying this is bad. I love all of these new fun spinny tricks and shiny Ferox skins. But the higher ups at CCP are probably laughing at how easy it is to convince masses of people of anything. "Just tell them we are giving in to their demands and give out all the examples of projects we had going for the next expansion" :D It's great but people who think they "won" >_> that is pretty funny.
