Capsuleers, you fickle things

I realize many of the IGS denizens are unconcerned with the to-ings and fro-ings of the larger null sec organizations, but this particular incident bears mentioning:

Pandemic Legion was recently set-up by an inside operative, to the tune of losing 9 supercapitals, and additionally, most importantly, the first ever capsuleer-piloted Revenent-Class supercarrier.

Losses are in the neighborhood of 450 billion isk, give or take.

Interested parties can of course check related capsuleer-news organizations elsewhere for video-recordings and analysis.

All I can say is: Well played, to PL's enemies. Doesn't matter how big you are, that's got to sting.

Knowing PL, not as much as pushing that monstrosity out of the assembly array it was constructed in probably did.

Were they set up? It looks like someone made a stupid mistake to me. After combing through the post-battle chatter it sounds like they saw this coming, and still jumped into it.

It's due to pilot error as no one questioned the FC nor checked available intel which apparently had been available to the alliance in general.

However, I'd like to say it was a masterful stroke of luck to take these ships down and remove one of the rarer ships which can still be manufactured by capsuleers.

Luck had nothing to do with it.

As someone who often trails high-value targets sometimes for weeks to set up ambushes this took dedication and long term planning, and I salute those responsible.

Cheers to Black Legion. Removing high value Nation technology from the hands of Capsuleers. In terms of ISK value, possibly the greatest contribution to the cause in history.

Right, as if they would not have studied the tech of their own ship backwards and forwards...

The one they had was only operational due to pieces and records scaveneged from a Nation Revenent that was taken down by Capsuleers. Without those parts, which Capsuleers do not have the technology to reproduce yet, mass production of Nation technology is restricted to Nation alone.

You can build a shell of a Revenent class supercarrier. But the actual hardware and advanced technology inside is not able to be reproduced by your clumsy mechanics.

Yeah, I went back for another listen of the chatter after the battle. After combing through the rage, I found out that it was indeed a setup. Good work Black Legion. Oh, by the way, you have at least 12 leaks that work of PL.

ouch... losing that much isk worth in Supercapital ships due to a spy has got to mean that war could be near between the two... especially since an extremely rare ship was lost cause of this. I make no secret of my hatred for the crap Sansha pulls on a regular basis, but I will give credit to how advanced his ships are from what info I've been able to gather. Losing a Sansha supercapital for any capsuleer has got to make them, no matter how battle hardened, absolutely furious and livid.

The report I saw said they'd been infiltrated. The infiltrator served as a scout for the fleet and led them into an ambush.

yeah, they were. as someone who's done infiltration myself, I have to say I'm impressed. Managing to do a long-term spy thing like that is not easy, but it has the potential like in this case to pay off big.
