I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but:

I've got a good mate in another country who I think would love Eve, but he's got a mac. I play through Steam, and we often play games together through Steam. I read a few posts on the Steam forums complaining that Eve on the mac is borked somehow, and I'd like to know if it's viable or not as its his borthday soon and I was thinking of gifting him a sub.

Any advice would be welcome.

Tell him to buy a real computer instead of an expensive gimmick.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

EvE is already out for mac, just not on steam. https://www.eveonline.com/start/.

edit: when your friend hits this page, it auto-detects your operating system. So the download link will show up as a Mac download for your friend.

I play all of my EvE on a MAC. It works just fine and there is a client for MAC.

There is just not a steam client.

Start the day off slow and taper off from there.

Thanks, all. I'll ask in the mac forum if I can gift it somehow.

Hell, they aren't even a thing anymore, Macs are just PCs with a applenix and an absurd price tag...
