Depends on the kind of game, don't you think?

A fantasy role playing game for example would probably suck without a good story, character development and a good amount of items to find and adventures to experience, but can work without state of the art graphics. An arcade-style space shooter however doesn't really need a story at all, what matters is a fun and addictive gameplay, awesome explosions and frickin lazor beams.

I personally like all kinds of games, how about you?

Now as for Eve - I hold the view, that Eve doesn't really need a premade storyline. The most important thing here is, that Eve should stay open and flexible, as the players are creating their own stories. Yes, the epic arcs and some of the mission texts are nice and I wouldn't mind more little sidestories like that, but I certainly don't want to be forced into some kind of overarcing huge storyline that I may not want to be part of. Graphics do also exist.

And the problem lies therein that the RP community in Eve is not taken seriously. By anyone.

Graphics>story.
If i want story, i'll watch the movie or read the book.
Of course, the story is important, but most of them are not good enough anyway, even in the adventure games.

in 2007 i've thought it's a sci-fi simulator, not an "e-sports" game. I'm not a teenager, how would i like it much?

speak for yourself. i could totally do without the first, if she had the others. also, a nice face trumps the first two anyway.

"Could do" is not "would do" when you have the option of getting the whole package. The gaming world is competitive in ways that most people's dating lives are not. We can all choose the best game, but we can't all choose to date [insert your favorite genius supermodel comedian here]. So when there're better games available, people are going to play them even if the lesser games are still fun.

Depends on the Game -in general, I'd put Gameplay and Theme first.

If it's a solo RPG, of course the Story matters a lot, if it's a competitive RTS, not at all.

Considering Graphics, they don't need to be necessarily top notch - however the graphical style matters a lot to me - e.g. I'd never touch WOW with a ten foot pole because I consider the cartoonish style absolutely appalling.

Regardless of gameplay, story and theme, I know I wont enjoy a game that constantly makes me want to rip my eyes out because I feel like watching a TV series made for oik kids.

For me I personally prefer a great story in a game, visuals will always be second.

Thankfully, when it comes to spreadsheets online, DaBigRedBoat tells us stories

Triggered by: Wars of Sovless Agression, Bending the Knee, Twisting the Knife, Eating Sov Wheaties, Bombless Bombers, Fizzlesov, Interceptor Fleets, Running Away, GhostTime Vuln, Renters, Bombs, Bubbles ?

Graphics is the most important thing after game play.

The story, most people don't even care too much about, you could say that as this is supposed to be a sandbox you should be making your own story.

A bit a both. We live in a time where you can have BOTH. Back in the 90s it was a trade off.

Can't wait untill when Eve online is Freemium. WiS only 10$, SP booster for one month 15$, DPS Boost 2$, EHP Boost 2$ Real money trading hub! Cosmeitic ship skins 15$ --> If you don't pay **for a product, you ARE the **product.

Graphics...

... but with the caveat that the ships actually look cool, not abstract, mangled pieces of space junk.

Storyline

Graphics can be quite great for some games however. I don't complain about still playing old games for example only because it's got good game mechanics and storyline. Big smile

- Fun and interesting gameplay
- More fun and interesting gameplay.
- Intuitive and easy to use UI.

- graphics/story/sound, nice to have but nothing more.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Whats more important to me is that people stop trying to pit two completely different aspects of entertainment against each other purely for the sake of social discussion. I mean are you really that desperate to socialize that you can't think of anything actually interesting to say?

This game. I played for about a year and a half on my iphone and online up until I had to deploy to Afghanistan. It had no story and no graphics but the game was fun. Though when I returned from the desert my prior alliance fell apart and I haven't played since. Still think about starting from scratch at times...

TLDR; I love graphically advanced games and a good story but neither matters to me much, as long as it keeps me interested and entertained.

All I want is everything.

Game Play, Story, Graphics.

But EVE is a sandbox. Protect the sandbox.

I'm spouting gibberish, now. I don't know what I'm saying anymore.

Watch this space.  New exciting signature in development.

I don't need any story because it becomes very old very fast - good graphics is enough assuming there is decent gameplay.

Stories only live once, great sandbox gameplay forever. Graphics can be updated along the way.
