Im looking to self-make a large scale model of a ship. by large scale, i mean like a 7m 1/10 scale rifter or something similar.

Just wondering if its allowed by CCP ( ship models are copyrighted after all) and what people would like to see large scale!

also, i know several people have made models and several devs have commented positively on them..... So i doubt they would hate you too much... Unless maybe you tried selling it.

geddon seems like a arse to build due to the amount of curved surfaces, which are very limiting with metal at least.

while i admit its a cool looking ship, id rather not make it first so i can get some practice down with large scale builds and materials.

plus, ive no idea on dimensions for it!

i dont intend to sell it, unless i am approached by a buyer who is offering a large amount and CCP approves it!

Doing a Minmatar ship sounds like a great idea. Here's some reference material:

Put a bike in the middle and ride it your Rifter to work, you'll be on the local news as the feel good story!

Hello UltiLink,

You are more than welcome to create real-life models of EVE Online ships, provided they are not used for any commercial purposes. There are already some wonderful examples out there, including this gorgeous Machariel matchstick model.

Awesome! thanks!

Would it be acceptable if, say, i had a private buyer approach me and they wanted to add my model to a private collection? Is that ok?

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Hurricane, shouldn't be that hard to do, only the shield emitters that might be difficult and is easily the best looking ship in game!

Rifter would be 2nd, nearly as good looking but probably harder to make.

PS. If you do the 'cane, don't forget the face inside the 'nose' bit ;)

That would make it commercial (if you're getting money out of it, it's commercial), so you'd probably have to ask someone in CCP's marketing/legal/management teams at that point.
If you gained interest and wanted to sell it, your best bet would be to email/write a letter to Hilmar.

this should be awesome. making a model Nyx would be kick ass too but I see a lot of people looking at it and going "you messed up on putting that millennium falcon together". in any case, good luck and make sure you post pictures once you're done.
also, to the person saying that they should put it on a bike and bike to work with it, only if they use some incredibly strong mountain bike or something and if they are only going to ride it down hills. unless you mean a motorcycle or some kind of non human powered vehicle then ya, go for it, it would be interesting.
