I played Eve from 2005 to 2009. My character is built towards missiles and drones, fitted with a Raven and a number of secondary ships (mining/stealth/etc).

I left due to RL constraints saddled with multiple losses of Navy Ravens which after 4 years of work--well Eve burnout ensued. I'm currently an active Dust 514 player and have thought about reactivating Eve for fun and potential corp help.

The real question is I've lost more knowledge than I care to admit and I'm certainly not comfortable, if not capable at this moment of handling some of the price tagged equipment I still have.

Should I load up an alt and go back through school?
Take my main, pick up a cheap loadout and surf?
Any thoughts on staying in game but casual?

Any thoughts on what I should look into (or out for) after a 4 year hiatus?

Thanks for your time and considerations. Bear

For a start you should just fly your main to one of the starter systems and talk to the agents there. It'll refresh your memory and introduce you to new basic mechanics. Doing all the agents for different careers will also give you a much better idea what you want to do for a living.

Pretty much everything can offer a living even for a casual player as long as you don't waste your ISK on anything stupidly expensive. Things like planetary interaction might also be worth looking at carefully, since they'll keep doing their thing at minimal maintenance and are quick to train an alt for, so it might be a good option for steady extra income at little actual work.

You can also just do the career agents. Just in case you don't know how to find agents, the agent tab in a station now has an agent finder. Click it and the options allow you to search for career agents. They're all lvl 1 agents and they should be available in several locations in every empire, so it won't take long to travel to one of the locations.

Go for the alt and do all of the tutorial missions. They have been developed far beyond what you probably remember so will get you back in the saddle pretty damned quick. Hell, there is nothing to stop you doing them all with your main too if you don't want to loose the training you have on it, so use that rather then use an Alt

Thanks for the thoughts. I don't recall Career Missions being around when I was here so those are turning out to be a good re-entry along with finding a few of my Dust corp mates in Eve space to at least have some fraternity with.

Funny how as I traverse from my old hood in 0.2/0.1 space back into carebear space I feel the cold memory of survival and watchfulness. lol.

Also funny finding my frozen corpses in old cargo containers. The stuff we hold onto.
