The Sisters asked me to ask CCP, as to preserve their digital lives, why the hell CCP did not add more ships with 99.9% reduction in probe launcher cost? Seems like an obvious miss.

It would be great to have more, less than BC sized hulls, besides T3, able to online a SOE or regular expanded probe launcher. Because for every action (more explorers) there should be an equal reaction (more explorer hunters).

And I'm here to ask why are explorers needing to use combat probes?

They dont need any launcher bonus.

If you are using combat probes to hunt and catch explorers you are doing it wrong.

Not asking for a scan bonus, but balance requires equality for predator and prey.

And using combat probes can be an effective way to hunt explorers. First you scan down the anom. Next you wait for the trap to be sprung and for the fly to enter the web while being well out of short scan range. Warping in negates a de-cloak penalty. But to each their own.

I disagree with your statement: balance does not require equality. In the classic example from highschool science courses, you can balance a 2kg weight against a 1kg weight by placing the fulcrum at 1/3 the length of the lever from the end supporting the 2kg weight. The two weights will be balanced but not equal.

In the good old days pirates would hunt down explorers (aka ninjas) with dedicated probing ships, then use the magic of fleet warp to send the combat ships toward the target.

Of course you also have the option of the Battle Helios or similar fits with other covert ops frigates.

The covert ops frigates have difficulty mounting the expanded launcher as it takes 75% of its CPU. I currently use an expanded SoE launcher on a Noctis acting as a command ship to warp the fleet in but...

I would much rather have a ship that isn't a T3 cruiser that has similar or the same CPU bonuses for probe launchers. Why? To hunt hi sec explorers. I am not tossing out a BC or T3 to wax a probe that may or may not have cargo in hi sec.

The risk should be inline with the reward as many say.
