Gate selection after jump - Bug or "Feature"?

Since the annoying new jump animation came in, when we jump through gates, by default it select the other side of that gate. This means when you are freeburning, occasionally you warp back when clicking jump (as you have the last gate selected, not the new). Is this supposed to happen?
If so, it's REALLY annoying, so can it be made to no longer happen?

Weird, I actually like the new, next gate selected / last gate selected, feature. It makes complex routes much easier to manage.

And yes JAG Fox when you select 'jump' on a gate your approaching, hit Ctrl/Space and re-select approach. Never select 'Jump' unless your absolutely sure you want to discover what's on the other side.

IMO this is a feature. Presumably, the gate you've just comne through is closest, and I would suspect you have a navigation/celestials tab already anyway?

not sure if i'm following. before you could right click on a gate and select warp to 0. you warp to the gate and sat there until you clicked jump. now, i click warp to 0 and it auto jumps upon landing.. can i not turn that off somewhere?

yes, by continuing to use the same button we always used

how is this not registering for you?

"we added an extra button to you car door that opens it open for you"
"how do I keep from hitting other people's cars in the parking lot then?!?!?!"
"um, dont use the button?"

You can fix that problem by paying attention to what you're doing, and following your FC's instructions on the AP route.

I'm not sure I follow. I always check what gate I'm jumping through before I click jump?

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

Yes, I'm well aware. But by immediately selecting the gate, if I click the next gate and that doesn't pick up, I still will get warped back. Granted, I should pay attention to the tiny graphic changing, but when you've been fighting in 10% tidi for 6 hours, sometime you are a little tired.
It just seems and odd selection to me. Why would I by default want to go back the way I came? It's very rare people will be jumping through wanting to go back through the gate they came from, unless they are baiting or camping that gate, in which case they probably will be manually flying there anyway.

Maybe it's because of how they set up the tracking camera to show the gate you just came through?
So when the camera is on and you come though a gate the game auto selects it to get the camera angle they wanted of the gate.

Erh?

If you click on a gate and select "warp to" your ship will warp to it.
If you click on a gate and select "jump" your ship will (if at warp range) warp to the gate and then jump.

So if you don't want your ship to jump, then don't select jump.
