When will we see them back in the store?

For the price of one of those models and the price of shipping it, you can rent more than enough time on a 3D printer to make your own.

Just sayin'.

Sadly this. Or if you don't want to get a 3D printer you can look into papercraft.

Maybe true enough, but I'd rather have an 'official' replica rather than one I knocked up myself that may get me and/or 3D company in trouble over copyright/licencing.

I would love a Megathron model for my study.

I'll be the first to say it: papercraft is absolutely lame. If I want to build a model, I want something that's going to stand the test of time; something that I might drop or spill something on at some point (heaven forbid, but who knows?), or that could fall off a shelf in an earthquake and hold together. The entire idea of modeling something in paper is... alien to me.

Frankly, I'd love to see the ship models return, hopefully after their in-game models are updated. It would also be cool to see them up-scaled slightly in to a bit more impressive size. I'm not talking shelf-spanningly large or anything, but something you can actually pick up and see the detail on.

As an aside, I'm kind of shocked that nobody is making independent resin models of a lot of the ships already. While I don't love resin, it is the foundation of an entire industry of home-based model makers. And, I might add, some of them do a very good job. Here, just as a random example, is a Star Wars Nebulon-B Frigate.

If something like that could be done with the EVE ships, I'd sweep up about 10 of them in a heartbeat. There's some real money to be made here if a person with a little skill wanted to invest some time.

I like the size. My Megathron is about the size of my shoe and weighs more. These were indeed expensive when first released, but dropped in price a couple of times. I don't expect another run or any more being produced at this quality and price point since it felt like it was a hard sell. I don't know how many were left in stock in the old CCP warehouse in GA, USA and would be a bit surprised if they make an appearance in the new German based store especially since they were already liquidated when the old store went offline.

Expanding on what Celeste wrote, there were *some* of these models at Fanfest - no more than a dozen at most. They sold out pretty quick, and I believe they were the entire stock remaining of that production run.

That said, I believe CCP is looking at new alternatives (you all saw the 3D printing thing in CCP Presents right?)

And in reply to Provence, the reason why nobody is making independent resin models for sale etc. is because CCP has a very tight hold on the IP rights, and anyone making models for profit would be inviting a lawsuit from CCP. However AFAIK they don't mind people making stuff for their personal use and/or as gifts in very limited runs.

There is a great website called http://www.makexyz.com where you can rent out 3D Printing services.

You simply put in your post code / zip code and it will show you the nearest location that rents out 3D printing.

There was lots of cool stuff in the old eve store, like ship models, keychains, mugs, flash drives, etc.

Can CCP only sell Musterbrand goods now? I mean the new stuff is nice, but there's only about 5 items in the store...

I'd rock the hell out of a Hyperion model. It'd go right next to my Noble Team statue from the Halo Reach Legendary box...

I was looking for those models at the EVE store during Fanfest. I couldn't find any and became so sad. Cry

CCP, I will pay you money for those models. Please, I have money now and want to pay for it. Look how quickly the Collectors edition is going, there is a market demand.

I want a new Apoc model. The new one is so win. I'd easily lay out $100-150 for an unpainted model, and more for a painted version.

If CCP were to send me the models for the ships, I would happily print fleet after fleet. I see a few people asking why others aren't already doing this. I can only imagine the the small inconvenience of intellectual property laws...

+1

There really is a severe lack of EvE merchandise out there, now that you mention it. I just saw a WOW Lego set. Kids don't even know what WOW is, but there's all kinds of toys, models, etc. Why not release some of those rights CCP? You'd make a lot more money...

I agree 100% that CCP is dropping the ball on the merchandise front. Dust 514 has brought in new interest to EVE and old players are coming back as well. I started a thread about the Megathron model and if there was any way to buy one but it is out of circulation and impossible to find for sale. I also am shocked that Eve doesn't have some cool t-shirts to sell or anything worth a grain of salt to buy in terms of merchandise. Incredible really, opportunity lost, all I have to say.

My thread on the Megathron model:

Hell, if you're even a little bit handy and have a bit of enterprise, you could build your OWN 3d printer for the price of a couple models...
