"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events.

The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week 27/2013 from June 29th to July 5th

Devblogs
  • An Update on Bug Reporting, Part 1 - Forum discussion
  • The amazing community of EVE Online players have supported our game developers since the earliest days (October 26th 2003 to be precise), swiftly reporting any bugs. CCP thankfully supports these efforts, for example, by working closely together with the ISD bug hunter division. At the end of June 2013, the internal defect tracking system was updated and modernized to Atlassian‘s Jira. To properly support this internal change, the bug reporting tools out-of-game and in-game will be revised, considerably modernized, and streamlined for better usability. Until this updated is deployed, please use the Issues forum to notify us about issues.

  • A New Live Event for July - Forum discussion
  • New live events are happening during July 2013 in the New Eden Universe! Get involved, travel the universe and take pictures of three sets of ten selected places in New Eden and upload them to imgur. For each completed set you will receive a reward, ranging from a Zephyr to a Low-Grade 'Virtue' Alpha implant, and have a chance at a special grand prize. Please use the Sanctuary Image Contest Submission Thread Week 1 for linking to your pictures.

Devposts on the forum and news
[list]
  • Fleet fight in Z9PP-H and disconnection issue
  • During one of the biggest fleet fight in the history of New Eden in the system Z9PP-H with thousands of players being involved for several hours already, a critical mistake was made by CCP in the attempt to improve the server performance for all participants of this epic battle. As result of that mistake all pilots in that system got disconnected from the server and the battle was thus effectively ended. We deeply apologize for this most unfortunate mistake.

  • [Odyssey 1.1] Skill group name changes
  • To revamp certificates and to make player progression easier to grasp in general, CCP Ytterbium asks for feedback on renaming some individual skills, and creating, or renaming existing skill groups and moving skills around between groups. As these are currently suggestions, we would like to invite everyone to participate with constructive feedback. CCP Ytterbium made an update based on initial feedback

  • COSMOS static complexes working properly again
  • Issues with containers in COSMOS static complexes not respawning properly were resolved; COSMOS static complexes are working properly again now.

  • CCP Alice about the EVElopedia
  • The EVElopedia code is now maintained 100% in-house and high level plans and ideas are already in place. Feedback and requests for further updates are welcome.

  • CCP Soundwave addressing concerns resources being pulled from EVE Online development
  • In an interesting forum discussion about the development of EVE Online and DUST 514, CCP Soundwave (Lead Game Designer) points out that CCP hiring for DUST 514 doesn't mean that the amount of developers working on EVE Online is reduced. In fact, if someone changes projects from EVE Online to DUST 514, someone else is hired to fill this gap. All expansions will continue churning at an unchanged pace.

  • Rebalancing of NOS will be done in careful steps
  • The coming rebalancing of Nosferatu energy vampires will be done in careful steps as confirmed by CCP Rise; no drastic game mechanic change should be expected, but feedback and ideas are closely watched.

  • Buying PLEX from Amazon
  • A recent question about legality of buying PLEX directly from Amazon is positively answered by CCP Sunrise. Buying PLEX directly from Amazon is allowed, but only directly from the company and not from someone else such as a player!

  • Sean Decker is hired by CCP as new Senior Vice President of Product Development
  • CCP announced that Sean Decker has been hired as new Senior Vice President of Product development and will lead the worldwide game development in Reykjavik, Shanghai, Atlanta, and Newcastle. Sean will support building on the recent launch of DUST 514,...

Great idea, making a recap like this.

Just a heads up, though - you are missing the beginning bracket for the 'ISD bug hunter division' link under devblogs. It's still easy enough to copy and paste the URL into the browser, but it's not working as the usual anchor text.

So long, and thanks for all the isk.

Thank you for the positive replies so far and the encouragement. The mentioned wrong links are fixed now.

I also think that weekly recaps are good and will keep this summary going as long as there is demand.

Keep this up, I love it.

Please do not discuss here specific topics listed in the summary, for those discussions please use the linked threads.

Discussions about the summary itself (for example, the format or if more sections should be added) are most welcome though and will be eagerly taken into account.

Will see how long you will last for doing this....
I hope you will keep doing this, its just, you know, people get bored of doing the same thing over and over again and normal frequency of news feeds in EVE has always been low.

I am a regular everyday normal guy and i usually dont know where to begin reading when i visit the forums so i usually end up reading the "DEV POSTS" tab.
Found this link in the launcher and then "blam" every info i wanted was there and with the bonus present of skiping the trolls (by the way you made a very good job since i joined eve cleaning up the trolls in the forum).
i will still read the headlines in evenews24 and mittani.com so everyone will remain happy but this was a very good thought of you i hope you keep up the good work Smile

Fantastic! Love the synopsis of everything instead of pouring over devblog after devblog then player sites. Gives me a great unbias option.

    I WANT MORE COOKIE!
