Day/Night Cycle?

This is one feature that seems to be curiously missing from E.v.E.; it's in many other MMOs/RPGs these days, why not one that gets updated as much as this game? It gets kind of dull always flying around in the daytime; nighttime could also potentially introduce some new PvP metagame mechanics.

How do you tell if it's night time in space?

Umm... the same way as anywhere else? The sun goes down, it gets dark, ambient noises change to nighttime sounds (crickets, frogs, wind rustling trees, etc.)

The fact that you have to ask indicates that there are, in fact, some people genuinely this stupid.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Play Deus Ex. Night time is the best time 24/7.

There is a player-made solution to this problem: Whilst in space, rotate your camera angle around your ship while in line of sight of the local star. Be sure to use small movements as to mimic closely an Earth-like 24 hour cycle.

You are welcome.

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

This song goes out to the OP...

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

I do believe he got you... Or maybe, just maybe I have mistakenly credited the OP with an almost intelligent troll, which means that I have in fact been the one who was 'got'.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

I beg to differ... I studied astrophysics at degree level (going onto do my masters this september) and when a friend of mine found out they were firing questions at me. One of which was: "We've walked on the surface of the moon, yet we're fascinated with the Sun, why haven't we sent someone to the Sun yet?". This guy was serious... Moral of the story (for me) pick better friends.

It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself.

The sun going down generally requires a planet that is in orbit around a star, and that is rotating around its own axis, hardly the type of thing you'll find in a space ship.

Trees, crickets and frogs in your space ship are usually down to poor maintenance and slovenly habits, if you have an infestation of this nature space your janitors and get some new ones, alternatively contact a local pest exterminator who will be more than pleased to cleanse your ship with antimatter.

As for the wind you could always eat more beans, I would however avoid doing so, methane strips essential nutrients from your pod goo and causes an increase in internal temperature due to the greenhouse effect.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
