I'm a newb and I have a friend that is newbier then me (if that is possible) I have only done PvE stuff mostly exploration. We want to go try out pvp just frigates for now see how we do and if we like it. We are going to fit out a bunch of frigs to get them blown up some. Not necesarly a life of piracy just to see how the other half lives.

Shoudl we go into null sec or low? Does that make a diffrence? we are in easy distance of both.

For two people would a frig/destoryer be better combo, or just stick with two frigs for now?

I have been practicing with Dscan should we just use that or should I put on a combate prob launcher instead.

What skills should we be focusing on for this?

Any other tips?

Are you going to fight, or murder? There's a difference.

Mocking the afflicted since 2013.

You need someone to show you in game. Joining a corp with a few more experienced players is a good idea. What's your normal time-zone/playing time?

Probably 2 frigs for now, until you get more proficient and confident in your abilities. I'd say low sec, since you're not going to get bubbled (see Interdictors/Warp Disruption) - but by all means, if it looks decent stick your head into null since it can be quite profitable as a lot of 0.0 pilots can get complacent about their security.

D-Scan is great for finding people in belts/planets (not that there's always many) but to actually find people in plexes, missions or safes then you'll need a prober.

If you see a flashy red you can engage at a gate/station without taking sentry fire. That said, if he's a flashy red he'll probably hand you your ass back but you might get lucky. If he's non flashy red, engaging at a gate/station will result in your frigs getting OMGWTFBBQPWND by sentries - unless you pull them out of sentry range.

Skills - depending on what you're flying.... Anything that's going to increase your damage, speed, gank and tank. Ideally be able to fly a frigate and fly it well. That little extra DPS, tank or speed can make the difference between life and death. Also thermodynamics so you can overload your guns/point/web.

for location, head out to faction war space in black rise or the citadel. use the FW plexes to limit the hull sizes of your engagement so you can go against other frigs instead of a frig tackle with cruisers/destroyers joining for the km whoreage.

joining in with another corp that uses the same size ships as you want to would also be a good idea.
